Just read an interesting statement on FB. This is the 5th year in a row that we've started with a different #1 'keeper - Silvestri Green Felix BPF Casilla Not very reassuring, really, is it? It's a position you really want to have stability in.
I thought his comments were brave rather than cowardly... and i think (could be wrong) in response to direct question. I said at the time I thought they were ill advised but straight talking. He’d been dicked about over a new contract, publically embarrassed by his manager over Blackman, and then dropped for Kiko the clown. So, you can understand his frustration. I took it as telling Leeds to piss or get off the pot. Looks like they got off the pot. What people sometimes forget is that players can say yes or no, but unless they’re superstars they don’t necessarily get to choose where they go. Barnsley for example might have wanted him as no 1.. but if they only have £500k and Burnley have 3.5m, then he ain’t getting his dream move to Barnsley
Only 2 top keepers on that list Jock and one has done a great job in Italy and the other will hopefully do a top job in Leeds this season... .... unless we sell him to Seville
We are now a well run club with a squad capable of competing for promotion to the Premier League. We are not guaranteed to go up and have no God-given right to assume we should, but we have stability and responsible owners, who will make sure that whatever happens, we will not go out of business or even be docked points this year or next. WTF are all you moaning so and sos complaining about? Nothing's perfect. We might get promoted, we might not. Support the club.
This is good and a must read https://medium.com/leeds-united-fc-...bielsas-risk-and-reward-strategy-478de89c1cb4
Nope, just fed up listening to the funeral march. https://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/s...7ce9fa63604bf83c6988a06ab05b4647&action=click
It was a very good read, and hopefully White won't use the dribble 'get out of jail free' as frequently as he does in the article. Of course he won't, but if he does it too often, it then becomes not only a great strength, but a predictable weakness to be exploited. Both Pontus & Bamba tried this & regularly failed, often with disastrous results. It was disastrous because their habit had been noticed, so it was pounced upon, turning their apparent strength into a weakness. Pontus has laid off a bit, possibly as a result of having an ear chewed off. This boy seems to have more natural ability to do it, I have to say. I have a lot of confidence in him, but tbh, he's not really been tested so far. Let the show begin .....
For Leeds: Green was the best keeper on that list. Silvestri was a good shot stopper, but a flapper and terrible with his feet. Casilla has a hell of a lot to prove.
We need to stop looking back, and to look forward, it's good news, would you rather we kept players generally not good enough.
BPF was at best average, and we've done well to get good money for him.Teams targeted our keeper, with long range shots, knowing a shot on target was 50/50 a goal. He did a job and did his best, but not a top keeper, only average, and to go up we need better.
Think we are trying to do that, Costa and Harrison are quality or going to be IMO in Harrisons case.No point going back to mistakes that were made 2-3-4 years ago.
Or we could spend millions we don't have on absolute top notch proven quality and for whatever reason watch them turn to ****, like Pogba, Ozil, Sanchez etc. Instead we've improved the academy no end, producing quality in the likes of Shackleton etc. Those that don't fulfill their potential are sold for a profit. We've improved the scouting network, resulting in quality in the likes of Bogusz etc. Finally, we've improved the management and coaching staff to one we could only dream of a few years ago. There's no doubt in my mind this regime is going about doing things the right way.
I pretty much agree, but I do think he was above average, but still not good enough. You've pinpointed his major weakness, and boy!, it really was a weakness. He may well have worked on it, but I didn't see any improvement. Now if you look at his weakness a little more closely - long shots - you have to ask yourself why you're susceptible to perhaps the easiest threat you'll face. And for me the answer is lapses in concentration. It's a rarity for other 'keepers, and a fatal flaw - especially when it appears that you're not improving. I wish the lad well, but unless he improves, he'll fade into obscurity, as better 'keepers are coming through all of the time.
