Frank Lampard's Derby humbled at home by the mighty Millwall. Now 2 points short of 6th and played a game more.
Shows what unlimited funds can do. Sane can’t even get into the starting lineup. It’s a joke really. Ffp my arse
Would break my heart if we got a billionaire owner... Bring the young lads through and build a team to be proud of like in the Revie and O'Leary eras. Yes, you can add a sprinkle of stardust but just buying success is not my idea of how football should be.
Agreed but target for the bigger pl teams is champions league football. That’s what their success is measured by. Unfortunately no homegrown team can make that any more. Maybe we could buck the trend
Think he's had it for sure, don't see them finishing in the top 6,and that's the minimum they expect from him.
It can be done... However you have to have an owner who will turn down the 100's of millions of pounds that the big boys will offer to steal your players away. Granted it's a small window of opportunity like we had under O'Leary when we were top on New Years Day and blew it.
Haugland, Miazek, Stjuric, Diaz, Bogutz, Nicell, Odour, Kun..... Just a few of our not home grown talent But yes agree at some stage soon they will be as these kids brought in to improve what we have and start fresh
Yep and the money wasted on the so called big signings who added absolutely zero was why it went wrong. If we'd continued with the youth policy and bought young hungry players with pace and ambition we could have been European Champions.
Were Biily, Eddie, Peter etc etc from Leeds schools...no and that's not the point. You bring the players in young and build a side that the fans/city can be proud of.
I thought I recognised the guy on the right in this vid. Can't decide if it;s a young Glory or a young James Whale. Whaddya think?
IMO O'Leary benefited from Wilko's foresight in setting up a youth academy and also the money Ridsdale threw at him. O'Leary did nothing after leaving Leeds United. In saying that I did enjoy the fun that us supporters had while it lasted.
The only time since the good times we had the beginnings of a very useful side, was imo under Grayson until it was chucked down the toilet by Bates. But to the future,if and only if we can get promotion this season, and under the guidance of Bielsa for a season or two,i have no doubt we will once again become a force to be reckoned with. Then i think Bielsa will move on to his next challenging project, but the club will be left in safe hands with Corberon,or another more than capable manager with maybe billionaire owners, well this is how i see it,but as we have all said many times, boils down to this season & the little matter of promotion.
