Jammy do you remember when Bates was begging the council to help him out by loaning him cash to buy ER and even TA. The council opted to tell Bates to do one as nobody trusted him. Radz seems to have the council in his pocket and buying Matthew Murray plot will have needed Radz to promise some form of payback by allowing some access to the new facility for locals and council staff etc. Dont think the council would allow a sale to Radz without some form of penalty clause.... so Radz is investing in the City too This deal also adds a huge valuation to Radz shares as TA no longer sucking rent and a new asset at MM which is going to be Premier League standard allowing us to qualify to play against the top clubs at U23 and academy levels
Doc, I'm presuming there's no penalty clause to leaving TA. Seems people on JA seem to think this is on a lot smaller grounds than TA?
Totally agree that Leeds City Council will have sought written guarantees to protect the future of the facility for the community. It's the ground that concerns me more. As it stands Radz could sell ER tomorrow to any 3rd party. Any potential new owner would not be subject to any fit and proper scrutiny from the EFL or any other test. It would be a commercial properly transaction only, not a sporting one. Furthermore any new owner of ER would then be able to set the rent at a market value and the club could have no complaints. That's if they were offered a lease that is, because at the moment it's unclear what lease agreement we have in place, for how long it lasts and what other terms/clauses are contained within. Nothing to worry about in the short term I'm sure, but in the future who knows.
Guessing this deal means future plans for stadium expansion and the old Beeston project resurrecting maybe. Ridsdale went for a deal to sell ER and get a free stadium built by Coca Cola just off the M1. The location of the school and expansion of the stadium and area around the ground would almost join the 2 complexes? Valuable to the council and the club? As far as the comments from JA being smaller than TA, there will be no restrictions on height of buildings ( umber of floors) at MM whereas there is at TA. I played football at MM and there is space and more space in the parcel of land part of this sale
Completely agree again. The council will have been privy to plans for the future of ER and it would seem are in agreement and approve bringing regeneration and sporting excellence to the area. That's why the long term ownership of ER is a major factor, especially as most think that Radz won't be here in 10 or maybe even 5 years. One of his companies owns the ground not the club...how did he even buy ER when the buy back agreement was supposed to be an option for the club, yet a sale went ahead to the owner being represented in a different form, not the club itself ?
As I recall, didn't he have to pay full whack, & missed out on the 'club discount'. Can't remember the details. Was it a timing thing & he wouldn't wait?
To be honest I don't believe there was any legally enforceable buy back option anyway. The document relating to it specified a company that no longer existed after Bates had his way with us, My instincts would be that Radz was seeking to protect himself from the vultures of GFH and was probably very wise to do so.
Smaller than TA but 4 pitches being built by where car park is by west stand would add to training facilities big time, and we are going for that as well.
Well, ginger, northern, Welsh, Scots, or Irish means the colour of your skin is likely to be a shade of translucent neon white.
That's definitely ringing bells. It was deffo a GFH issue. It was to do with asset valuations & all the sort of nonsense I don't understand, & GFH were digging in their heels to benefit themselves. I don't think they expected Radz to do what he did. I do specifically recall now that the reason they didn't expect it was that there was a discount available if the club itself bought ER, which GFH were relying on to line their own pockets. The other timing aspect was that the rent was on an escalator & was due to go up again. Then again, I might be talking absolute bollox. As usual. A little knowledge is dangerous, as they say.
History will show that Cellino was the man who whether through bravery or stupidity rescued the club from it's downward spiral. Fair play to Radz as he has picked up the baton and ran with it, but without Cellino's influence and troubleshooting it's doubtful we would be anywhere close to where we are today.
GFH were owed £5m as a debenture and refused Radz offer. This in effect meant they had no voting rights but would need to give permission before any deals including transfer deals which could impact the value of the debenture. if Radz bought ER for the club it would immediately double the value of the club which in turn would mean GFH would now hold a debenture for £10m. Simplistic explanation but hope you get the drift. Radz detests GFH as we all do
True story, a black elderly woman called me white trash because I looked at her 15 point turn in her car with amusement whilst waiting 15 minutes to get to past her in my van. Although i was physically sick and traumatised I didn't phone the police and report the hate/racist abuse for obvious reasons
Erm .... nope. Jammy's posh & I aspire to be like him. So there! I just need to go through the casino module of my training pack again.
I'm proud of you Olof, being able to share such a trying and upsetting incident with everyone on here, shows that you have taken the first step on the road of recovery from such a vile moment in your life
I'm not going to get into this subject too much, but I will say IMO everyone has a bit of racism in them. But I do agree with OLOF that it seems if you are of a certain colour that you do have a monopoly on that R card.
