Interesting. Joshua Rae was released by Leeds this summer, has been on trial at Blackburn, but looks like he is on the bench for Leeds at Tadcaster tonight.
Josh Rae was released then had a trial with Blackburn, why is he back as a sub? A trialist in goal must mean we have an injury and asked Josh to sit on the bench. Wheres Huffer
Well well well, White is stunning and will be everything Bielsa was after.mdavies, Gotts, Clarke and Costa all having good games. Edmondson and Clarke a handful and Edmondson scored well followed by a well taken Clarke goal and Gotts rounding off a good move Need more from Klich and Alioski as both cruising
Woah, like people were saying, let's not doom and gloom over the scum result, remember this is Tadcaster. Bigger gap between us and them than us and scum (league wise). Keep it realistic on both sides of the fence.
5-1 Leeds Edmondson hat trick Players of note in the 2nd half were were: White again, Struijk when he came on, Edmondson, Klich, Mujica when he came on was in position waiting constantly, hes going to be good. Davies made a slip to gift their goal but Davies looks good
Whos going OTT this was a good performance and if you factor into the Perth team White, Costa, Klich, Alioski and others from tonight you see a different team giving different challenges to Man Utd. White looks great to me
That was the big question tonight - Josh Rae? I could find out absolutely nothing about what was going on, so after half time, I wandered over to the dugout to have a word with him. Couldn't get his attention, & tbh, I didn't really recognise him. He's 2 years older since I met him, has grown a beard, & his hair was darker than I remember. In all honesty, I couldn't positively identify him (and I doubt he'd have remembered me). Tell you what, though - he definitely gave the impression that he wasn't going to play in a month of Sundays. Body language, chatting throughout the game, no warming up with the others, that sort of thing. The thing that really puzzled me was if he was standing in to help out, as Doc suggested, surely he would have been listed as a trialist? Unless his contract is still in force, of course, which would be odd in itself for someone who had been released. Or would it? Trialist was Max (Michael according to the YEP) Johnstone, 20, released by Sunderland, apparently. I've been wondering about Huffer myself. Is he injured, perchance? No sign of him anywhere this season. Speaking of injuries, we knew about Ayling & Roberts. But are there others? I ask this because there were a few noticeable absentees tonight. BPF, Huffer, Pearce, Shackleton, & McCalmont - and possibly others that don't immediately spring to mind. Was also hearing that Saiz was back & training at TA with all the other undesirables. Was hearing that all the players were given a target of max 11% body fat. They all made it, apart from him - he remained on 22%. Also, when doing their laps, he's be at least 3 behind. Every time.
I guess what LoL is saying is would White have been as stunning if he had played for us against Man Utd this afternoon Given that there was a number of concerns from people on social media about our defence against Scum, and others quite rightly defending the team performance on the basis that we were playing a premier league side, then surely any superlatives about individuals performances tonight against Tadcaster should be treated the same way. I think the level of criticism leveled at the team for this afternoon was undeserved, but I'm also open minded enough not to heap too much praise on the team this evening, even though I thought certain individuals had a great game, and the team performed well, but its no more than was expected given the level of opposition
Agree with you re. this after's unnecessary criticism. Jet lagged, half the team missing, & playing against 2 teams (1 in each half) was always going to be a struggle, no matter who we were playing. The fact that it was a PL club just added another layer to an already heavy covering, so to speak. Criticism is fine if it's positively framed, or describes a disappointing performance level given the circumstances. For instance, I expected Costa to go to town tonight. Yet apart from a few touches of magic, I was largely disappointed by him. On the other end of the scale, I was prepared to be apologetic on behalf of Davis playing in an inexperienced back 3. And yet (even though his mistake cost their goal), I was most impressed. He far exceeded my expectation. For LB, he was a bloody good CB, and may actually have been MOTM for me. Indeed, I must mention Clarke's performance. I've been quite underwhelmed that we've got him for another year, but I have to say that his level of industry was the most intense I've ever seen it, be it first team, or even u23 level. Hopefully this will be consistent this season, and not just one of his 'up' matches. Btw, did anyone work out what formation we were playing tonight? It looked like 3-3-1-3, but FM, it most certainly wasn't as simple as that if that is in fact true. I was bamboozled. Never seen Klich play out on the wing so much before. Or at #10. Or at DM. Yup! All over the place, he was. As were others too (except the back 3). The most organised disorganisation I've ever seen on a football pitch. Ever. Yet they knew exactly what they were doing & where everyone should be. A joy to behold.
FormationI have no clue because I saw countless breaks from White barnstorming through the middle into the box or pinging crossfield or long range balls like Zico davies did it, Struijk was doing it, Gotts as RB played like a 10 at times and scored a great goal and should have scored another. Kun was ardly in the box and buzzing around breaking up play, young Jenkins from the U18 was everywhere. So it was like games at school pick a team and everone plays where they wanted.clarke and Costa rotating flanks was also great in the first half
Interesting. Seemed even more complicated than that to me. I got the impression that Costa was playing #10. Alioski seemed to be on the wing up front, with Klich usually behind him & on the other wing, Clarke had Gotts behind him. Didn't seem to be any FB requirement, as the back 3 picked up that part of the play. The middle 3 were all over the place - in a controlled manner, I might add. But hand on heart, I still cannot claim that I've just watched 3-3-1-3. The only bit i can confirm is the 3 at the back. I feel like a child again, having to learn formations, but not quite seeing it. I'm loving it!
Maybe Mr Bielsa has a plan, minimum amount of players to Oz to honour contract, the rest stay at home and train. All will be revealed.
