so just you who understands his overall contribution then jambo while the rest of us mugs castigate him.<laugh>

or is it ok to use the eye test to say his positioning is crap, he flaps at crosses and his distribution is erratic… Before we question why he doesn’t save much? :emoticon-0105-wink:

Great fighting spirit from Rotherham to snatch a 2-2 draw.

Ipswich have a method and an identity that is serving them well and that means they're unlikely to completely fall away. However they are no Leicester and so second place is fully up for grabs.

Only 3 shots on target for Ipswich and whilst the Rotherham keeper didn't really have any chance with either goal they still conceded 2.

Will have to watch again as tonight didn't really give any clues as to why Emu rates him so highly.

4 points dropped in 4 days.
Against teams you would have expected them to beat.

Looking at the Ipswich forum they were not impressed with tonight’s performance, they lost to Fulham in the cup so no wins in three, the pressure will be mounting for them on Saturday against Swansea

I dont quite understand all this Meslier bashing. Yes he's prone to mistakes, but he still a bloody good keeper, he stayed at the club unlike those other mercenary twats.<ok>

Well we'll see if this fantastic keeper can keep them up this season. Where as fingers crossed Mes gets us out of this league. I really don't get supporters getting on certain players back. It was Rutter last season and now he's outstanding. <ok>

FWIW I didn't get on Rutters back.

I just see where we could improve. It's not really having a pop, just seeing where our weak points are and what we could do to strengthen.

My concerns over the last 2 or 3 seasons still to be rectified are keeper, left back, playmaker and centre back.

We've done a good job strengthening midfield and at 9. We are very good attacking out wide too.

With the keeper thing, Johannson won keeper of the year in the Championship and has improved year on year. He won player of the year and players player of the year at Rotherham and most of last season he was pretty much a one man team. He's just gone 25, would be available for under 5 million and his wages would be low Championship level.

Meslier is a top earner and (according to Kinnear) we turned down bids around the 20 million mark. He said in the summer he would be happy to leave Leeds (for Chelsea too btw). If we made a profit of 15 million on Meslier (20 million minus his 5 million transfer fee) we could spend 3-5 million on Johannson, save approx 1-3 million in wages a year and we get last years best keeper in the Championship.

That's not getting on a players back, that's just sound financial sense and we probably upgrade a player that has not really excelled for a couple of years. We at least give another young keeper the chance to excell at a big club with possible future profits. I know that's not what a football fan wants to hear but if we don't go up this season then we have to start saving money or we end up in League 1 with Derby.

It could be argued that getting on Rutter’s back has made him the player he is today. Bamford should be world class shortly if theory is correct

From my perspective it’s just addressing the balance of people raving over him for the odd good save.

I always thought he was a talent but we’ve needed someone more complete/finished article. Being in the pressure cooker of a struggling prem side obviously affected him. That’s not his fault, they took a gamble he would learn on the job - but it was a tough gig. Genuinely hope he gets his confidence back and steps up.

I think he stayed at the club because he didn’t have a loan release clause. He was talking up a move last year if my memory serves correct <cheers>

What's your plan for Firpo ?

Potentially the best full back in the League but you just want to get rid so where is the sound financial management you're talking of. Surely it's far better to enhance his reputation similar to what Struijk and Meslier are now doing.

Also, and this is not directly at you but the loan release clauses put in by Orta are potentially going to see us bank easily £50M plus next summer and that's if we decide to sell.

Avoiding the fire sale after relegation and giving everyone time to see where we are 12 months later doesn't seem such an awful idea now does it.

Meslier was asked about his future after we were relegated and his answered truthfully that he didn't know if he would still be at Leeds the following season or at another club. That seems fair enough because if Leeds accepted an offer then he would have been expected to help the club financially by moving on.

That's not the same as as talking up a move in my opinion.

Never said you did slag Rutter, that was aimed at those that did. I know nothing regarding if Mes did say he'd join chelsea, he didn't and stayed so in my book gets my respect. As for the rotherham keeper he has let 25 in the Champ so far and lie 3rd from bottom, so the only stat that I'd care about is where Mes is in the table with Leeds Utd. But you are of course entitled to your opinion.<ok>

I just support the team, I've never been interested in stats or the goings on behind the scenes, regarding the boardroom , players agents or clickbait. <ok>
