Look at you guys babbling on about what represents a good chance, with your little pet theories. Just use xg. That’s what the smart boys do.
Jock I think the massive problem fans have with Bamford is frustration. It would only take a goal or two and the fans would be all over him, but he became a big time Charlie when Bielsa got him into the England squad. Bielsa then got him a huge pay rise and new contract and ever since he signed it he has contributed nothing. Nothing in performance, fitness, attitude but still picking up a huge wage. 2 years now of nothing. Fans would like to see something back from him. Fans hate to see him cupping his ears. I don’t think his head is fit never mind his body. Reminds me of the brilliant worldy everyone wanted Deli Alli but he imploded mentally. He is now back at Everton after having head treatment and could be the difference for them this season. Alli was a superstar kid but did nothing for 3 seasons, we have had 2 seasons of nothing from Paddy so maybe he needs a shrink
I've got those figures at home WJ Whilst I agree with you to some extent, that still doesn't detract from the fact that I wish we had better players in every one of our starting positions. For many years, the majority of us on here will have been ingrained with the opinion that a striker scores goals, and you want a 20 goal a season striker in your team. Within the EPL, that is becoming more and more of a myth, 15 goal a season strikers are a rarity, and I think Brighton's top goal scorer last season was MacAllister with 10. However when you look at the Championship, the 20 goal a season striker is still very much in vogue, there were a lot more than I expected, when I looked into it, after someone had previously posted saying we needed a 20 goal a season striker. As for Paddy I have no issue with him. He's not the out and out striker that many hope for us to have, but he led the line well, and goals were spread out throughout the team. However in the last two seasons he has managed from minutes played 23 games out of 76, so about 30%, and in that time, the team as a whole as struggled to score goals, the players on the pitch have missed him, as much as he has missed chances. It is therefore no surprise that there are doubts that after seeing the team struggle for the past 2 seasons, due to a variety of reasons (one of which is probably Paddy was probably not fully fit when he did play), is that we are approaching the start of the season, with yet again our main striker injured and thus is it any surprise that people wonder how many games he will be able to play, and yet we also don't have a realistic alternative for him either, that most of us would have some confidence in. Our options are all reasonably inexperienced. I have no problem with a fully fit Paddy playing for us, he will miss chances but the team will score goals. However are we confident enough to say that we have that, even I am starting to have my doubts, and I've championed Liam Cooper for god knows how many years
I would Milky, but I send enough people asleep with stats as it is. If I start using XG as well, then I will receive a 100% sleep success rating
We’ve had two seasons of nothing from everyone who wore the shirt, we went down and they all had a part to play. For me the largest culprits were the back 5 including the keeper, it’s just easier to point a finger at the one who misses a goal rather than the one who gives one away
I would also point a finger that left so quickly after relegation far quicker than one who is still with us
Harrison misses some sitters too. Our conversion rate has been awful for years but it's been papered over by the fact we are quite good at creating chances. At the back, we concede far too many chances and have had a goalie that resembles a polo mint so the ball goes straight through him. Both areas are weak points that need strengthening. Add to that the fact that the midfield lot can't pass wind and it actually becomes quite depressing.
I think it's one for yourself and like Wakey says you can order one per member that you have linked to your account. We have mates with season tickets and when they can't go they can send them to us via mobile.
