Don't count your chickens pal, someones got to buy him first, and he's had a clause inserted in his contract saying, if Leeds don't get promoted he's off. He really loves Leeds.

The release clause is a lot more than £20m, he was interviewed after reports surfaced that Spurs and Wolves want him. He was happy to sign a 5 year contract, has loved Leeds since he was a boy and he wants to repay Bielsa by staying and playing at Leeds

to be honest, it was the only practical option for club and player under the circumstance. He gets an appropriate pay rise, we get to keep him for a year with a chance for longer if we go up... and we have enough skin in the game to protect our investment.

what do you expect him to say?

he’s a Leeds lad, loves Leeds but he’s a professional... and if he does go and betters_ himself, then FairPlay. All you can ask is for total commitment from them while they are hear.

 

Are people seriously thinking he shouldn't look after his career to stay at Leeds if we don't go up? Realistically who has? And not sure why LL is fussed since he thinks he's crap?

 

If we go up he’ll stay, if we don’t I’d expect a big money offer to come in for him and I think Radz will have to sell. It’s all ifs and buts, I’m just going to enjoy his current form match by match and see where it takes us.

I’m confident we’ll go up this season and as long as we do it’s job done then we start all over again. If we keep Phillips or if we sell him, it’s out of my control (so no point worrying over it)

 

If we go up he’ll probably stay. That’ll depend on who knocks in the door.

Ristac can’t ban Phillips that would be ridiculous. However kp is due a ban under the new FIFA Passing It Sideways Sucks directive.

He has surpassed the quota of sideways and backwards passes allowed in a season so faces an automatic 8 game ban.

He faces another ban under the Completely Unacceptable Midfielder directive - after a tribunal found he was guilty of reckless loss of control of the midfield in every match he played this season.

 

We need him rested for the last few matches...
