For f*cks sake all this waiting is killing me. Can't we just play Everton tomorrow and Southampton on Saturday and get it over with.
Regardless of who the board decide is in charge, the best chance we have this season is for the fans at the ground to get behind the team and roar them on. The final nail in the coffin will be the fans turning on the board at home games. If that happens (again) then we will have signed off our own relegation.
Was just saying the same to Jammy Jnr. If we lose to Southampton the crowd will want blood and it won't be Skoobies.
I would be interested in Elland posting Phil Hays piece on why Skoobs was chosen to replace Jacko. Apparently a big field of top coaches including Erik Bakke wanted the job but Skooby was chosen. I ain’t paying to read the Athletic but I know Elland does. At least we can then stop taking the piss out of his non coaching skills and maybe understand why he’s good at what he does By the way there are quite a few names in world coaching who never played the game a few have top championships, trophies and European championships to their name, we actually had a non player a couple of weeks ago and he threw Marsch under the bus. Well done Rene Maric
The very least I’d expect of the players is that they try regardless of who the manager is. Given their silence, I presume they are glad he’s gone.
Anyone remember when John Carver was in temporary charge and we got dry humped by Stoke at home ? Turned very nasty that day at ER.
I’ve never commented on any of our ‘targets’ as most of the rumours were made up bollocks so you must be mistaking me for someone else I’d say ‘happy’ is stretching it a bit but under the circumstances it’s the best decision. And as I said it’s better than a new man coming in at this stage of the season.
If we lose to Everton and Saints I think that will be us done, we need to win both these games. We've got the players to do it, but we seem to get found out by the lesser teams.
Well let’s see what Skubala does then, Steven Gerrard went from Liverpool U19s to Rangers, he didn’t do too badly until he went to Villa Skubala moved to St George’s Park from Loughborough University, where he headed up the Leicestershire establishment’s celebrated football programme, and lays claim to being one of the country’s most qualified coaches. It’s not an ideal situation but give me a choice right now, Marsche, Skubala or Iraola and I’d take Skubala. You want a new coach, who hasn’t a clue of English football, to stamp a style of play on a group of players who he also has no clue on. You seriously expect him to come in, realise each players strength and get them playing as a team at such an important part of the season. You’ve just seen us totally outplay Man Utd at ER and you want to have a downer on Skubala because you believe this guy from Spain or Holland or Argentina will know and understand what they have inherited better.
To add to this one of the best coaches we’ve ever had in Bielsa won’t even take a team mid season because he doesn’t think he can implement his style which adds to this theory. After the last two games I’m happy with Skoobs as we’ve played really well against 2nd in the league and could’ve arguably beat them at least once so should be equipped to stay up, I think our squad is good enough for mid table and we only needed to lose the man marking after Bielsa and we’d be sound but Marsch ripped that up. Massive improvements the last two games so let’s see that continue. Goodison not an easy place to go though.
Well let’s hope you’re right. I don’t want a Spanish coach but one with some experience of coaching a first team. I also think you’re overplaying this guy’s credentials otherwise this decision would have been made on day one after Jesse was sacked. Big decision for Radz as get it wrong and it costs around 200 million. Then we will be looking at the likes of Lampard and Gerrard for the championship.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m amazed we never paid the release fee for Nuno, if someone decent with experience of football here was available I’d love the powers that be to appoint them. Corberan, Kompany, Nuno, Frank, Poch I’d take them all in a heartbeat However, it seems the choices are; Iraola, Gallardo and Slot. I’d take them in an instant over Skubala if this was preseason or pre world cup when they had time and had a transfer window not far away. It’s only at this very moment in time where I’m “Comfortable” with Skubala. If we get stuffed over the next two games we’re in deep trouble. I’m not overplaying his coaching certificates, it’s well documented, I thought we looked better against Man U than we did our previous games Our problem over the last two years is too many people overstaying their time here costing us dearly and that includes Radz who should have sold up before the season began
Honestly, I sincerely hope you’re proved right with this decision. It took so long to get back to have it all unravel again now.
Have I missed something? Have Skubala & co been given long term lucrative contracts to run the show or are they continuing to hold the fort while the club search for the right choice of manager? Absolutely Rads and co deserve the derision if they have done the former based on one draw and one defeat. Equally as deserving if they have removed Skubala and co without a new manager in place. Otherwise, scratching my head a bit at what the drama is all about
Only reported on Sky Sports last night that Skubala will remain in charge for the “upcoming fixtures” supported by Chis Armas and Paco Gallardo.
