Evening all. What's this about then? "Stoke City have signed Benik Afobe on an six-month loan deal from Wolves, with an "obligation to purchase him for an undisclosed fee" next January. The 25-year-old joins the Potters, relegated from the Premier League last season, just 11 days after moving to Molineux from Bournemouth. He completed a £10m transfer to Wanderers on 1 June." BBC Looks like Stoke are going for it anyway, also paid £6m+ for a Nigerian midfielder from some team in Portugal.
Would say the loan to buy,is waiting for the cash to come in from sales.Butland and the Swiss international will both be on their way.
Birmingham Live, saying it could be announced tomorrow. They are reporting on it because of our link to big bad Bruce.
Thanks for your response Wakey. Unfortunately your view seems to be the popular opinion adopted by most people involved at a senior level in British football. Namely that appointing a manager/coach from the BAME category is associated with failure. Surely that's not judging all people equal but applying a prejudged determination based upon the colour of their skin.
I think the biggest problem is asking them to wear a suit and then telling them they have to stand behind the white line
Could well be an announcement tomorrow that bielsa has been chosen as manager of Leeds that means now that Leeds will start signing class players
Be careful what you wish for!! Good read though https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ived-catastrophe-at-lille-is-coming-to-an-end
Could well be an announcement tomorrow bielsa chosen as Leeds manager , that means class players will be signed now
Not really just agreeing with an earlier poster that so far not seen any succeed .so would you appoint someone with no experience for our coach just because of their skin colour ?.
To be honest,if they are good enough, then they would be working, same as players, fans want the best, how many good black players have trouble finding a team ? None. Political correct view, why aren't 50% of managers Women ? Dian Abbott will be saying the only reason she's not Man city's manager is because she's a black woman. And the law should be changed so that she will be.
After what two weeks? focusing on just Bielsa Leeds have set themselves up for a mighty fall if it doesn't go through because whoever gets the job will always be the second/third option and they'll know it.
Positive discrimination such as the Rooney Rule is not something I would favour personally. Also if I was to employ a coach with no experience then it would be as an assistant to an experienced manager with the view to taking over at some point in the future. What I wished to challenge was the notion that black managers/coaches will fail because there is little evidence of success. Football is all about statistics but that particular one is one we should not be quantifying as each individual should be judged on their merits not some perceived notion that people of a certain race are all destined to failure regardless of their background, experience, education and talent.
Clubs go for who they perceive to be the best guy for the job,TBH the premier league is under represented,by white Englishmen if anything.
