I admire your loyalty Chesh, but who do you classify as "lower league teams"? Surely that must include you having been out of the Prem for more than a dozen years and even in League One for a few since then. That's the trouble with a lot of you guys - you believe you are special and will get out of this rut because of who you are, rather than what you do about it. Go on believeng that and you'll writing similar disparaging comments on here about your own club that I've been reading recently for quite some time to come. No offence guys - just an opinion.
When I say lower league I mean league 1 and 2,they nearly all play the same, lots of effort, plenty of kicking the opposition, low skill and a big hoof up pitch. I also include some championship teams, who due to no fans and little income, play the same football, and the only ambition is to be the new Wimbledon of the prem, that isn't a criticism, its the only way you can play in the prem, with a Warnock,Pulis type of game, designed to get you as high as bottom 6-7 in the prem.As I said Leeds fans will never accept or want this style of football,we don't want to be a Wimbledon in the prem.
That's a fair approach Chesh not wanting to be the Wimbledon of the Prem - you can be the Man City of League One anytime you want pal. Whether your past glory and success (and that's not in question) is preventing you from accepting the realities of where you are now and what you need to do to change it is the question. Looks like blinkers work for horses and some Leeds supporters. The rest of us in the real world accept that dogma is a dangerous thing unless you prefer to live in the past - genuine good luck to you.
We've been linked with Marco Silva, apparently, Heckyarse'ole has been given his marching orders at end of season.
We want to play like Bournemouth and Fulham did when they got promoted .We are where we are,,like I said, you will be over the moon with 4th bottom in the prem,we if we ever get back we expect to compete, with a bare minimum of top half.Don't think you will ever understand tbh.
In response to Glorys off topic post on the match thread, will be going the game, but only a quick drink after the game, will pay glory if he wins then,Eire is nothing to do with you glory so mind your own business,Brendans post about how much he hates Leeds and not wanting anything to do with Leeds has no place on the match thread and that's all I said.
Yes. I’d also add it’s ditto when players think they are owed something by the world. Klich did not play well when he was on the pitch, was my point. The fact he’s doing ok in NL is not a big indicator, as that league is a shadow of its former self. But of course whoever is the manager next season should consider him. I’m not anti Klich just pointing out there isn’t strong evidence to say he’s the answer to our midfield woes. We need someone a lot better than we have (apart from maybe Forshaw).
Like I said Chesh - that's fair enough, but the key element in your post is "if we ever get back" - that's the crux of the matter. Getting out of the Championship often requires a different mindset and set of players to achieve it that those you need when you're actually in the Prem. I do understand what you're saying despite you suggesting that I don't. I'm just lost as how you think you can achieve the first part before moving on to the second.
Glorys post was on topic every bit as yours was. This bloody cycle race is going to make it difficult for me to get to the pub after the game so I tell you what. When I win just give the money to Marcos, Jamy or shaks and tell them to get the beers I till its gone. If you through some freak of maths win PM me your address and the money will be in the post on Monday morning. Will be in the peacock pregame if you do make it. pS didn't read Brendans post but it sounds like he is on the right track...
As glory seems to think its interesting and should be on the matchday thread,my great aunt gertrude isn't going, and has no interest in Leeds even if they topped the prem,my cat Felix wont be going either for the same reasons as Brendon.
Banging the same drum won't get you a different tune Chesh. Huddersfield and Bournemouth both got up there because of excellent managers in Wagner and Howe. Both were supported by excellent Club Chairmen committed to English football - you haven't got either in place. The manager is the obvious place to start to whip your dishevelled squad into shape - a far easier and speedier process than finding a better owner. Hadn't noticed Fulham being promoted yet though - probably wishful thinking on your part, but there you go.
That's why we aren't going up this season, next you never know, may pass you,on your way back down,or we may beat you in the play-off final. your second loss in 2 seasons. You more than any should know 12 months is a long time in football.
Spot on there Chesh. Before Warnock came we were like a rudderless ship. We came down from the Prem with Solskjaer at the helm who was like a kid in a sweetshop - bloody useless. Then we got saddled with the turgid Russell Slade who was the embodiment of boredom. He was ditched for his useless assistant twat Trollope for the start of 2016. After the first 10 games under him we were bottom 3 before Tan/Dalman woke up up saw the light. They brought in Warnock and he totally transformed the club - players, staff and fans. If we go up given the paltry money we've spent since he arrived it will be a miracle that will be down to him not Jesus. Now if we get there, I agree we will have to revise our squad to stay there - but let's get there first.
Certainly you haven't (if you make it), not sure about Hudds but Bournemouth were certainly helped by breaking FFP rules.
