We all know what happened yesterday but Leeds should never have allowed it too. Piss poor at negotiations letting them drag on far too long. Had two months since Saiz left and we wind up being held to ransom as if there was only one player in the world who could replace him
so saiz goes to spain for fook all and the club allows that to happen because the poor lamb is not happy.so off he goes for his winter holidays to a warmer place. due to our success at the above deal we then try to get someone on credit terms at league one prices. if we had agreed a decent fee early in the window we would have got a winger with pace which is what we really need.said it before in this window our chairman is a cheapskate and has failed to spend the clubs money properly.he allowed orta a free reighn and we are still paying. so why could we not afford one solitary player ? answer is above.the matchday crowds have been big enough to generate plenty of cash on top of our budget.
At some point you have to decide if the deal is what you want, two days ago it was a deal, viable and what we wanted. We were strung along, yes, but could we have done better I don't know. If you were buying a car, had considered all options, decided what you wanted negotiated the price, had an RAC check done and just as you were about to pick up the keys the deal was changed what could you do except curse especially if the sales had closed!!
We failed to get one deal across the line, very publicly as we actually got him in for a medical. This medical was undertaken presumably at the agreement of Swansea and essentially seen as the last step in the deal, as it customarily is. Swansea pulled the plug and at the 11th hour so where else is there to go?
The best thing that happend in the transfer window is we didn't sell Jack, He is a real game changer and possibly the best dribbler I have seen at Leeds since "he who must not be named"
You would have an alternative but they are limited by what you are willing to spend and when you intend spending your cash if you have any in the first place
Swansea official statement is we were unwilling to pay the loan fee reportedly £1.5m up front. IF true I don’t blame them for pulling the plug, they have zero to gain from releasing a hot prospect and first team player and receiving nothing immediately in return.
Disagree, you don’t allow your player to go to another club to take a medical unless a deal has been agreed. They then renaged on the agreement and didn’t even care enough about “their” man to leave him sitting at ER for five hours waiting for confirmation that he was a Leeds player. Only one club behaved unscrupulously and badly towards the lad and it certainly wasn’t ours.
How long left has he on his contract? Maybe they'll lose out financially in the end and he can walk away for free. I don't know if his age would mean Swansea would get something though.
Does this risk return profile process always involve huge disrespect to the buyer; the 'asset' being sold; and incredibly, refusing to answer the phone for the 5 hours leading up to the deadline? Suspect not. Suspect the 'fcuk Leeds' process kicked in at first opportunity to implement it. Now if I was James, I'd be doing everything in my power to make sure I pulled on a Swansea shirt against Leeds to prove how much I wanted to play. For Leeds. I'd kick in my 'fcuk Swansea' process to underline how unhappy I was at the way I was treated. And hopefully never play for them again.
You make a good point Shaks... As I see it he will now definitely not sign a new contract (he has another season left after this one). Swansea however have used us to set a benchmark for compensation should he leave at the end if it without an agreed fee. Fans criticizing our club need to question their worth as a supporter. Obviously they are totally entitled to support in any way they choose but it does not make them a supporter of value in this instance as we have done everything correctly. It's Swansea who have acted in a completely unjustified way towards their own player, who this morning must be considering all his options after being treated so appallingly by his employer.
