You're spot on Doc about us earning respect far and wide as well as silencing a few inept pundits along the way. We now have to do it all again, otherwise those same pundits will absolutely love trashing us every chance they get with the same old tired cliches and poorly reseached analysis. It's interesting though to take a look at Burnley as they finished 4th bottom last season. Whilst we played very well at Anfield, Burnley actually went there and won, then in the xmas game at ER surely even the most diehard Leeds fan must admit we weren't at our best that day and Burnley probably deserved to get something from the game. Fine margins is what I'm getting at I guess. Turn a few of those many wins we had against teams at the bottom into draws or defeats and suddenly the table would have taken on a different complexion. That didn't happen because we beat every team who finished in the bottom 6 home and away apart from Brighton. Repeating those results is as we all know key to having a stress free season and Sunday's game will be a good indicator as to how we'll fare in that respect.
still not convinced Brownhill is a Bielsa Baller ... Burnley will go down this season, they properly struggled last term and it was only the ineptitude of the three relegated clubs that saved them ... personally, I see Sunday's game as a SIX PINTER!!
I've always wondered when shaks does his beer run how he gets the ale home. Ruck sack, shopping trolley or fork lift.
Well it used to be the mot who cycled back with my ale, but since she had a heart attack that's stopped, so I cycle and balance 20 cans on my handlebars.
I was more worried last season than this tbh. Last season we had a Championship squad who had excelled in a formation playing Bielsaball. I wasn't sure if we had the quality to survive and just hoped we finished 17th. This season I am much more upbeat after learning alot of things about our squad last year. We have a kid keeper who had a couple of mistakes (Arsenal away!) and bounced back stronger every time. He never let it alter his game and showed great strength of character. Plenty of top sides would want him if he became available. He has proven he belongs at the top level. Llorente and Raphinha came in as untried and largely unknown signings and again both would probably be welcome at most if not all premier league clubs along with Phillips who would walk in to any side including Man City. Bamford was on fire last season. Now an international call up. Harrison maintained his assist and goal stats from the Championship to this level. A team with that amount of quality should be avoiding any relegation fight. I'm aware that nobody is too good to go down. At the beginning of last season I thought we had the worst squad in the league but this season I see plenty of squads alot weaker than ours. As long as we don't lose confidence or go on an extended losing start then we will not only survive but thrive this year.
I think back to a couple of threads on here in recent times, like the comparison between our wages and Evertons or most of the other teams in the Premier League. The list of squads by costs etc. I suppose a more accurate way of doing it for this season would be to have present valuation which would see our squad move up that list. Bamford cost £7m now worth £30m+. Phillips cost nothing now worth £60m+, Raphinha cost £17m now worth £40+ you get my drift. So on paper we should be safe this season
I must admit I like stirring the proverbial I would be quite content to survive this season we did well last season but don’t let’s carried away Remember remember the bad old days when some ? Sold our future on a gamble Live within your means good old Yorkshire proverb And on the increased value of some of our players remember that above all Radz is a businessman and profit is one thing but a super duper profit is another get my drift Maybe the plonk talking but I kid you not be careful what you wish for I have already got what I wished for to see Leeds United in the 1st division (Premiership) I rest happy Anything else is a bonus P.S if we don’t win on Sunday I will be spitting blood
