Unless there is an injury or a drop in form the starting pair will be Llorente & Cooper.
I know a lot of fans think this is unfair on Struijk and far too many hate on Cooper but he is club captain and last season, good first in the prem, he produced some of our, and the leagues, best defensive stats. Until there is reason to drop him it won't happen.
Struijk knows this and knows his time will come.

Struijk still has an error in his game. A misdirected long ball intercepted, a slip, a missed header. Cooper has fewer errors therefore he should get the nod

If he keeps improving the way he did last season his day will come when he is first choice. But it is some people's blindness to the mistakes you mention and the irrational need to dislike Cooper that winds me up.

The two are going in opposite directions as far as their careers are going. Cooper is now the experienced cb who has one, maybe two seasons at this level. Struijk is the understudy who will get game time this season to prepare him for when the time comes to take over.

It's because he's a philosopher and genius, that no-one has a clue what he's going on about.

Or it could be that he's a nutter.

    Most likely all 3.

Cant disagree with that because right now he must be 3rd choice and keeps out a German International. Struijk is a baller and can play with the ball at his feet and get on the end of a cross to score. Hes stepped up and now a full member of the first team.

    This however pees me off

    Fantastic news.

Just have the feeling that if we don't finish Top 6 that this will be his final year. With that in mind let's hope we can somehow manage to sign another player in the Llorente/Raphina class and give the Champions League places a right good go.

I think another 10th type finish he’ll call it a day realising no matter how good you are as a coach, you can’t compete with the money the top few throw at it. Just miss out on European football with 8th type finish he might have one more go.

It might depend too on how the U23s develop and how itchy the feet of Philips, Raphinha and Llorente get

That's why we need an upgrade on Klich & Dallas in central midfield. That one quality signing could make a massive difference and doesn't necessarily need to cost a fortune. Regarding the U23's there are some excellent prospects but no one in that attacking midfield position who'll be ready to make the step up this season.

If anyone mentions Forshaw then they are severely misguided.

    Draxler anyone ?

I agree with both Ristac and Jammy but to throw another hand grenade in Man City have now put a £150m bid in for Harry Kane, so that deal will get done. Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd should take the top 3 spots now followed by Liverpool and closely followed by Leicester who are coached well and buying well, and now quality all over the park. We would then need to beat Spurs off and Arsenal and whoever else comes good.

Latest news is that Gerrard is now admitting that Rangers will struggle to hold onto Kent ir the right money gets offered? He said it today in a presser so wonder if the O’Brian thing is slow as we wait and see? Also Kent can do wing so why not buy both for good measure. However Palace are now saying they like O’Brian.
