Leeds United players have “grumbled” about Marcelo Bielsa’s military-style methods, according to Mateusz Klich. The Poland international has told the Daily Telegraph how the squad have been left “exhausted” by the demands of the manager, which began in pre-season and have not let up in the opening two months of the Championship campaign. Klich explains Bielsa puts a huge emphasis in fitness, teamwork and trust in his methods, which have spawned many imitators across the globe, including in the Premier League. “It was a shock, very different,” Klich told the Telegraph. “We don’t play games, it is tactics, tactics, tactics and fitness. Pre-season was so hard, so much running, so much work in the gym and then tactical shape every afternoon. “We were exhausted. I was so tired. Yeah, some of the lads, they grumbled, it happens, but we respected him and we quickly understood what he was trying to do. “He is very strict, it is like being in the military. We go to the gym every day, before training, then we go out on the pitch. Every single meal, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, is together as a team. “There is no time to relax. It is harder than I have ever worked, but we enjoy it, honestly. All the players believe he can make us better, that we need to listen.
So this piece of garbage is exactly the same as Bamford, Pablo, Roofe, Phillips, Ayling have said, but this time this paper decided to edit it a bit and put sentences in different order to make it sound as if Lazy Klich was complaining.
smart boy klich... ‘some of the lads they grumbled’ ....not me boss!! From what I heard they all grumbled. This I think is why the wheels have fallen off for bielsa’s teams sometimes in the past. Overtraining might be part of it, but teams have bad runs. Players will kill themselves in training and they’ll put it up with it when they see the dividends. Discontent can surface when you’re told to sleep at the training ground and not see your kids.... when the teams getting mullered every week!!
All top class facilities have this now and players can go relax in their rooms between sessions and even sleep to recover faster. It creates a clubhouse mentality too as if they were in a hotel on an away trip. Izzy for example will be cream crackered after every session right now, but rather than go eat then hang about for the next session he can go chill in his room. He can recover faster and not have to worry about jumping in the car if he wants to do some extra work/practice. Bielsa will even be even on site rather than go back to a hotel. They even have families over for dinner and a few drinks, out of the limelight and out of trouble. I think its agreat idea
Imagine Shaks getting an invite or winning a comp that allowed him to stay at TA night before a match. The team would be dead, spewing up on the half way line as our mate introduces Cider followed by jaigerbombs
Thing is doc, it’s easy to see the boot camp concept... fitness machines and team bonding formed out of hardship and togetherness etc etc. But when you're a mollycoddled professional footballer who’s used to getting paid shed loads for a few hours work, and dividing the rest of your time between the PlayStation and chasing skirt... it’s not such a compelling proposition.
Milky was I one of these self centred greedy twots I might think to myself that Bielsa is making me a better, my value has trippled in 3 months which means more cash when I leave or more cash when promoted. So being selfish still works or you are just basically a lazy twot who Bielsa would want shut of?
Most people want to do a good job, whether working in an office or a football team. The reason many appear not to is usually due to bad leadership (though of course there are exceptions).
That doesn’t seem to stop us Anyway, just read somewhere, seven of our next eight are on sky. The armchair is gonna take a serious bashing
