That's 5 goals in 2 games for Edmondson another for Dalby with Gotts and Oudour getting 1 each. Guys we have some talent in this U23 squad and most are paperboy age
Brown is a talent no doubt. The doubt is whether he’s quite the same after a major injury and such a long time out. Some are some aren’t. My hope is he’s available before the jan date we’ve been previously given. I hope they have chance to assess his likely impact before the jan window closes.
I guess he is seen as a replacement for Klich and Klich hasn't done anything to desrve being dropped, Saiz might have lost his place after the last couple of games.
Evening all after a thoroughly enjoyable Thursday after last nights result. Think it's going to be tough going against Forest. Reading through, I think Jack Clarke deserves ago ahead of Harrison, who I think will come good in the long run. Anyone think Edmonson should be given some minutes?
Lassoga has played 10 games so far and scored 7 goals. Not a Bielsa type player I accept but deserved better from some of our fans, afterall he was working by himself for idiot managers. Bielsa says he has a plan for Clarke which means not starting with him yet, but easing him in. Edmondson broke in late last season and still on the fringe but smashing it in the 23s, we’re lucky but guess we trust in Bielsa.
Cheers Doc. I just liked what I saw of Clarke when he came on, a few poor decisions with the final ball, which I put down to excitement of getting on, but really knows how to beat a defender. As for Edmondson, he scoring a hatful for the U23s so wondered if he'd earned a chance. Admittedly, I'm not sure how competitive the games are at that level (as in readying you physically for the 1st team).
Promoted last season and top of the league this season with some good teams involved. U18s also top of their league which means allmour teams are top of the league. Bielsaball is smashing it because he demands all teams play the same way so as the players progress they are able to do their own job in the first team without standing out like a sore thumb.
Feedback I’ve had from those making the step up. Physicality is a part of it, but the pace of the game is the main thing, it knackers them, which is one of the reasons they’re often introduced as subs for a while. This is, to some degree, position dependent and also psychological... nerves can be tiring, but 1st team football is a huge step up in terms of pace/intensity. Since reserve team football was scrapped there’s no soft introduction to ‘man’s football’
I'm not sure how Florist play, if they come to attack we could get a good result. It's just another tough match along the way to getting promotion. As for all the calling for the youngsters to play, I think Bielsa is doing the right thing and playing them sporadically. He could bang them all in for a load of games and they might burn out. I think he's thinking of the second half of the season when he could give them a longer run in the team and they'll be fresher, hungrier and they could get us over the line. Just my opinion though.
