I'm surprised you did not say Reaney and Terry Cooper who was rated at one time as one of the worlds best left backs.
Au contraire Mr Chips as far from being the faceless investors you describe the San Fransisco 49'ers are one of the biggest sporting brands on the planet with a track record of both innovation and success. Following a fairly disastrous first season as owner Mr Radrazini has correctly identified that he needed expertise rather than just investment. He has now rather cleverly acquired some of the best knowledge out there of how to build, manage and sustain a major sports brand and doubled his summer transfer budget at the same time. The owners and management of the 49'ers will see this investment as a strategic necessity as other NFL teams look to exploit the growing UK/ European market in relation to their primary sport. The fact they have chosen to associate their brand and heritage with that of LUFC is a massive positive as they will now demand success on the field to reflect well on themselves as co-owners.
Toss up between Reaney & Cooper for me The great George Best never had a good game against Speedy Reaney Cooper is our best attacking LB of all-time Then you can't forget our Rolls Royce Paul Madeley who was adept no matter what position he played in
Wilf I saw both left backs a great deal Cooper was not as good defensively as Dorigo .I remember Cooper being totally destroyed by Jimmy Johnson at ER
Cooper played in the 1970 World Cup Finals so how the more recent full-backs can be rated above him is beyond me !
Have to disagree. This 9mill is short change and even Rad won't have given up any meaningful control of lufc for it. Always follow the long game this relationship is all about Asian tv rights and feck all to do with us. If they wanted into lufc they would have taken 51% plus.
The money whilst useful this summer is not what this investment is about so in that respect I agree with you. Where we differ is that I fail to see any advantage to the 49'ers unless we improve on the field and gain promotion to the PL. This hasn't happened overnight and I'm sure it's something Radz has been working on ever since he gained control of the club last summer. If you look at his past successes he is very shrewd in who he aligns himself with in partnerships. I see no reason to see any downside in securing new investment from a partner who has an absolutely impeccable reputation to protect.
Jammy, I’m sure you’re correct but it uses all of language that makes me nervous, “brand”, and “franchise”. We are a football club. I’m now expecting 49’s NFL games at ER.
A one off game complete with LUFC taking a share of the gate and the added money that would bring to the city would be great but overall what I'll take from it is that a respected company has chosen to invest 9 million for 10% share - which means that the valuation of the club has doubled in a year and a company that I imagine wouldn't touch Cellino/GFH/Bates with a ****ty stick is happy to come on board. I think it also helps transfer/wage budget within FFP rules. But now onto the important bits of getting rid of Heckingbottom and getting in some new signings (and will be judging this window as a whole window - not just our first signing whether that's a big name or a Bundelisga B name)
Rads is a businessman end of he now has 9m and you now have TWO owners that know fookall about English football just profit mongers I’m now expecting 49’s NFL games at ER. that's an improvement
I suppose I am judging him [playing against one of the best as someone said Reaney totally closed Best down indeed Best said he hated playing against Paul
could be worse, could have an American who wants to build a McDonalds on your ground, and no £9 million
