Good Morning. It's Thursday 16th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Radrizzani - Stay at home

Andrea Radrizzani has written a heartfelt open letter in today's Yorkshire Evening Post pleading with fans to stay clear of Elland Road as 16 years of torment looks to come to an end.

The love you have shown the club, the players, my family and I and all the staff who work at Thorp Arch and Elland Road has been nothing short of amazing.

The last four months have been incredibly difficult for everyone around the world, but I believe the way our communities have pulled together has been amazing – especially here in Yorkshire where huge progress has been made due to our values and collective spirit.

Thanks to the tremendous work of healthcare teams and key workers, and the sacrifices we have all made, the situation has improved. However, my message to you all is that the fight against Covid-19 is not yet over and we must continue to be sensible. I know many of you are desperate to show our boys support during this important week – but the health and well-being of our loved ones in our community must be our top priority.

I have always felt that football means little without the presence of fans, and now I know that for sure. However, it is vitally important we stay safe and keep those around us safe too by staying at home.

We take nothing for granted and there are still three very important games to play this season. I know that the management and our players will not rest until we have reached our objectives and the final ball is kicked. I know that whatever the outcome may be, many of you will want to come together and cheer us on, but on behalf of everyone at Leeds United I would ask that you enjoy these final games at home safely. We want supporters back in the stands as soon as possible and if the virus returns to our region due to mass gatherings, then we could damage the progress that has been made.

We hear you and we feel you in every moment – we know how important the club is to this community. But please, stay at home.

Leeds could be promoted by Friday night

Brentford made it eight straight wins in a win as Thomas Frank's men edge within a point of second placed West Brom. Having drawn against Blackburn and Fulham, the Baggies are two points behind Leaders Leeds who's game in hand tonight is against rock bottom Barnsley - what could go wrong?

Its tough luck on Slaven Bilic's team, who, like Leeds have occupied a top two slot since the opening game!

Leeds need four points from their last three matches. Brentford have 81 points and a goal difference of +44 compared to Leeds' 84 points and +35 gd.

If Leeds beat the Tykes tonight and West Brom fail to beat Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium tomorrow, Leeds are up.

If Leeds win tonight and grab at least a draw from Derby at the weekend, Leeds are up - despite how other results go.

Leeds have seen the last of Augustin - Robbo

Former Leeds shot stopper Paul Robinson believes there are enough loopholes in the contract between the Whites and Leipzig for Leeds to wriggle out of their obligation to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin.

Leeds had an agreement to sign the 22yo on a permanent basis should they get promoted.

Augustin joined Leeds on loan back in January, but was unable to keep up with the pace of Bielsa's demands, accumulating a total of 50 minutes of game time before suffering two injuries.

Leipzig are keen to move the French man on, and set a fee of 18.5m on top of the 4.5m Leeds have already paid in wages and loan agreement.

Robbo said "I don’t think we’ll see Jean-Kevin Augustin again. “It could end up being a very expensive mistake but I think they’ll be okay by the sounds of it. “You’re not going to sign a player who doesn’t want to come to you. If the player turns around and doesn’t want to go to a club then you can’t force him.

“There are enough loopholes that will get Leeds out of signing a player who they don’t want to sign anymore.
“Augustin is an undoubted talent but it hasn’t worked out and his body just couldn’t take the intensive Bielsa regime.”

    Good morning.

Still no news on the Wednesday, Derby, Reading fiasco. Considering there's only a week of the season left and a points deduction could see Wednesday relegated surely the EFL should be pulling their finger out now? Personally I think they were hoping Wednesday would be safe by now so they could "punish" them quietly without too much controversy but now that it might actually make a difference they'll get a slap on the wrists and a small fine.

Morning all. Rushing around here to get finished early. Hope the idiots have the sense to stay away from Elland Road. We know it would only take a half dozen to have it splashed all over the tv and media whereas as Liverpool partied in their thousands for days seemingly but that was ok of course

Good Morning to Matt and co from a cold damp Bardsey

Well it is the best league in the world so its very fitting that we have a real fight for the top 2 places.Brentford thanks to Pontus and this comes from Natalie Sawyer has made their defence water tight I still wish he had stayed.
Bournemouth will accompany Norwich and the PL will be pleased such a small supported club has ben relegated but they have shown other small clubs what is possible if you believe
I wish for a good result tonight

Christ is it just me, or dose every game seem like it could be our downfall, tonight is against rock bottom Barnsley - what could go wrong? <doh>.
i for one will be glad of a very scrappy 1-0 win, i just want the season to end.
oh and by the way i won't be on the forum tonight because from five o clock till 7pm, i will be behind the sofa on my knees and with my hands firmly clasped.
And Bloody Brentford will not go away, like a cat watching two mice, just a case of which one should be caught, none of this is doing my blood pressure any good you know :emoticon-0107-sweat

    Morning all.

While I completely understand the want to be at Elland road together for when we are promoted to actually do so would be incredibly selfish.
Without wanting to start a super fan argument i can already see the comments on twitter

"if you loved leeds as much as me why weren't you at Elland road?"

"How many times did you go to Elland Road during the pandemic?"

"I risked my life and my loved ones cuz I didn't want to miss out. What sort of fan are you?"

I'm thinking of avoiding social media and possibly here until after the game tonight.
I'm getting bored of everyone posting about how nervous they are and how much they are bricking it.
    Why?
We are deservedly top. We are the best team in the league playing the worst, based on league position. We have......
I was gonna list some more stats to back up my argument but you all already know them.
Stop panicking and enjoy the ride for Christ sake.

Because were Leeds fans, and used to big disappointments, yes we should be confident for the rest of the season, but with the gypsy curse (remember that) i just don't know <ghost>
if by some chance we did fail (and i very much doubt it realy) could be a very tough few years ahead, never in our recent history has so much depended on the next 270 minutes of football. And i suspect every leeds fan everywhere are feeling the pressure right now.

Not every leeds fan. I've never felt more confident in my team. Maybe I'm just looking at the facts rather then the feeling.

I was really nervous for the Blackburn and Stoke games. For some reason I was very calm before the Swansea game, maybe subconsciously I thought we had done enough. But Brentford just won't go away, I can't remember another season where a team won 8 in a row to put so much pressure on the top two. I watched Brentford last night, I think they're coming to the end of their tether, the pressure is really starting to build and I predict they will drop points in one of their next two games.

As for tonight, we're a far better team than Barnsley, but the same could be said of Luton. I don't think they are good enough to park the bus and keep Leeds out for 90 minutes. But this is Leeds and we've a way of doing things the hard way.

We all know we're good enough.

The question is will a moment of madness cost us big time ?

I'm thinking Max Gradel against Bristol City for example, we got away with that one...just.

You're absolutely right though, this is the time to enjoy being a fan as it doesn't really get any better than this. <ok>

Exactly. Some of us have seen glory before as fans and for a large portion of fans this is the first time.
Let's not ruin that enjoyment by convincing ourselves its not God's happen. God there will be plenty of time to be miserable if by shumë miracle we ****ed up
