No argument from me as Greenwood just doesn't have what it takes to play at the highest level. Young Sam was one of Victor Orta's punts along with the likes of Joffy, Struijk & Summerville, which to be fair has resulted in a 50% success rate and we're still likely get our investment back on the other two as well. Orta doesn't seem to divide opinion anymore, but for me he still did far more good than bad.
On the Orta hit and miss chart, I wonder what age brackets were the greatest for hits and misses, it certainly feels like there were more successes for those he signed around 20 years old. It’s tricky as most signed under Jessie felt like his choices over Ortas. Ortas saving grace was signing Bielsa, I also see those we nearly signed like Cuisance failing miserably. I do feel Bielsa refusing several of those put forward to him probably saved us a lot of money
As we’re on the international break does anyone think Summerville is a bit greedy and should be contributing more goals and assists? Looks great but I feel like this needs improving. People put him in over James every time because he is an exciting player however he’s not contributed loads considering the amount of games just yet.
Yes, very frustrating, hangs onto it for too long at times and has me shouting at the screen but in fairness to him he would have one more assist if Rutter hadn’t missed a sitter.
The difference is Summerville has great close control unlike James. And he looks comfortable when he drifts inside, whereas James doesn’t. Summerville is also at least as quick as James. Maybe doesn’t have the work rate of James and should release the ball quicker but he’s young enough to improve that side of his game.
Think he is greedy, no question. That’d be ok if his finishing was far better, but I don’t think he delivers the goals from the opportunities he often creates for himself. An illustration was on Saturday ( a rare game i got to see at ER as I paid to join the prawn sandwich brigade). In the first half he opened up their defence and you could see he was gonna shoot. Piroe (I’m pretty sure it was him) was unmarked in the box, a simple pass would have given an open goal. The chance gone. The good thing about him (greediness and finishing aside) is that he lifts the crowd every time the ball comes to him. At ER that does make a difference. I don’t understand why the majority of our players always seem to go over waist high with their shots. We waste so many of our opportunities because they make the keepers job easier. Thankfully Piroe is more natural in that regard and it paid dividends with the winner on Saturday.
And yet when he did play a simple pass to Rutter, laying a chance on a plate for him, Rutter managed to somehow balloon it over the bar. That would and should have been a great assist.
Be interesting to see a comparison of goals and assists this season between Summerville and Rutter. Summerville seems to come in for a lot more criticism and yet the things that stand out for me are the sitters Rutter’s missed.
Rutter is may be missing some stuff but he’s also contributing more goals/assists than Summerville. I think the main point of my post is that if Summerville wasn’t so greedy we could win by more or win more games and a player like that can be costly to us if he doesn’t start learning from those mistakes. Rutter has also missed some golden opportunities but feel like what he has produced has won us games, like James and Piroe but I’m yet to see this from Summerville because of his greed.
Not much in it to be fair. Note that Summerville has played two games less. Top Scorers RK NAME P G 1 Joël Piroe 11 5 2 Georginio Rutter 10 2 Crysencio Summerville 8 2 Top Assists RK NAME P A 1 Daniel James 9 4 2 Georginio Rutter 10 3 3 Crysencio Summerville 8 2
