its a sh*t article though. Extending his contract means we get sales value for him and contrary to a lot of Leeds fans opinion he will have a value. (I know - 2 packets of crisps etc) Roberts goal scoring record is undeniable cack. But the stats do kind of overlook how infrequently he’s played as a striker. Most were as sub, and most as winger or AM. Given that fact it’s his lack of assists that’s probably more damning. Even you doc found yourself praising him pre Christmas before he got injured! Truth his his rep precedes him and everyone loves a scapegoat.
good touch, always works hard, not got the pace to take premier league fullbacks on, end product hit and miss. Agree, can be frustrating but doesn’t warrant the flak he gets.
it takes pundits a while to get round to commenting on what they see rather than reputation. Watched several matches where he was cack and they were still w*nking over him! Wondered when someone would notice.
Harrison works really hard. I'd also say he has the best touch and control at the club. Definitely a confidence player and needs to take his man on more often. His crossing isn't great and his finishing can be woeful but he does put a few very dangerous crosses in to really good areas but we've had nobody attacking them. On a good day he is unplayable but if he has a couple of iffy games his head drops too easily.
Milky Imwill always praise any Leeds player who helps the cause, but I have only done that With Roberts a tiny handfull of times in the years hes been with us. Yes his scoring record is cak because hes not always playing up top, but his assists record is appaling for an attacking Midfielder. He has not added anything to our team except on maybe 8 or 9 games and when you think hes played 100 times for us…… sorry mate but he is pants and needs to leave to help himself.
Agreed Shaks. And never shirks his defensive responsibilities. Always tracks back. Plus the fact his tracking back duties have significantly increased since Firpo came into the team. Covering for the lazy ****er can’t be easy. Probably misses Alioski more than most.
Well if we manage to stay up and he wants to leave he's certainly one we will make money on guaranteed.... plenty of other fans would be able to w**k over him then I'm sure
I have just read a report about last Monday at TA. Lots of tears and hugs for Marcelo who spoke to the whole squad and staff in English to say goodbye, and then later listening to Jesse Marshe and what he had to say, which earned him a standing ovation. Strange day but a squad all still on the same page it would seem
We are short of goals. Massively short. I'm thinking Summerville might be worth a go. He is pretty lethal in front of goal for the 23's.
Ian Wright, One of the last of a descent breed of football pundits, a guy who actually knows imo, what he's talking about.
of course… he’s a brilliant talent. I think his inconsistency is what stops him from being worth as much as some have suggested, but clearly a 50m+ player. Maybe surrounded by better players where he isn’t double teamed as the main threat, he’d flourish and be even better. the point was about sh*t tv punditry, though not fans opinions.
If we go down Joffy will be awesome, if we survive we really need to add a goal scorer and send him out on loan for a season. Sadly he has stagnated this season
Lots of comments on the 23s thread about the stupidity of tippytappy from the keeper and back four, which puts us into deep trouble too often. Hope everyone saw the difference between the Manc clubs yesterday where Utd were like Leeds at the back tapping around into trouble and City who were great and the difference is you need good footballers who are capable of first time passing in tight areas. City were slick and no way could Utd put them under pressure or take the ball off them…… hope Jesse has a plan to sort us out
well there are quite a few who would be top in that category.....only mr souness and mr keane are worth a look for me, undisputed great players who tell it as it is...no bull
Still a waste of money though mate and I mean that in context with the other signings. We already had Costa, Poveda and Raphinha, if we’d have paid the £15m activation fee and concentrated on CM fine but we paid £15m for him then another £28m for James, that’s just crazy. I know some prefer Harrison over James, (I don’t as you know) but I’d happily agree to disagree about one or the other, splashing out on both in the same windows when we’re crying out for central players is pure waste, it’s highlighted even further when one of them is continually played out of position
