At that level you have to make things happen. He didn't. He just kept making the same runs over and over with the same result. I don't think he did that bad but 'working hard' doesn't cut it at that level. I'd be surprised if he is selected over Watkins and Calvert-Lewin again.
Just seen another point on twitter about yesterday's game that made sense. The whole match was indicative of a b team trying to prove their worth by trying to do too much themselves and make themselves look good. Bamford just did what he was told to do and what he normally does because that it how he has been trained these last few years. The Bielsa effect but more importantly side before self.

I can’t comment on the game as I didn’t watch but everyone keeps saying “at that level”. It was Andorra, that level is ****, possibly not even league two standard. He may or may not have looked better with a few more of the usual starters, much like we say about our U23s in the cups, let’s see how they fit with the bulk of the first team around them. Either way, he earned his chance, up to Southgate whether he gets another.
Exactly. Andorra are a pub team and he didn't make things happen. He just waited for something to come his way. When I say "at that level" I am referring to the level of the England squad. You have to be something more than a willing runner. You have to take your chances, create stuff for yourself, make your mark on the game. For the record, I don't think Bamford had a bad game. He worked hard, made intelligent runs, nearly got a couple of assists and had a couple of half chances which he failed to convert. Exactly how he plays for Leeds. Unfortunately the calibre of players competing for that spot have shone brighter when they have played.
