You answered your own question earlier when you called me stupid and childish. Have a coffee and a read through.
The most annoying thing is we assume Cooper was selected for his leadership qualities, for the need of a captain on the field. It was the most lack lustre I’ve seen us this season, it needed a captain to shake them up and get us out of second gear, it never happened
I bet he gave them a ‘play better or fck off’ speech in the dressing room afterwards though. That’s what inspirational captains do dontcha know
Talk about missing the point. If we don’t concede the first goal then the game is different, confidence is different so maybe we’re not facing the same attacking situations against us from the opposition. Bloody hell football isn’t linear, different players doesn’t mean the game plays out exactly the same way otherwise managers wouldn’t change lineup, formation or make substitutions.
My view is you play your best eleven available in every game. Rodon is one of them so far this season it seems. Might be partly down to some shoddy attacks facing him too
Great arguments but just to Chuck in my 2P as I’m no expert on defenders. I will say the difference you can see between a Prem CB and a Championship CB is anticipation and reading the game. Being able to see where you are vulnerable. Copper has the nickname of L1Cooper, maybe unfairly so, but he ain’t Rodon who is a prem player?
Nope, still not getting the point. Struijk was correctly positioned for all 3 goals, as you would expect a top CB to be. If Rodon was RCB, you would expect him to be impeccably placed too for all 3 goals. So what difference would it have made if it was Rodon instead of Struijk? Rodon would correctly have mirrored Struijks positioning, would he not? So why does him playing make any difference to the goals scored, when the ball wasn't anywhere near him? (Other than Struijk moving to LCB & perhaps preventing goals 1 & 3). Still waiting on the answer ....
Listening to what, exactly? Which particular nonsense reply do you claim to be the answer? You don't even seem to know what the question actually is, given the one particular response where you changed my question to something completely different.
Cooper's not even Scottish anyway (born and grew up in Hull) and only plays for the jocks due to his grandpa. And yeh I know that's not relevant
In an attempt to try and answer your question WJ, was Struijk in the correct position for the first goal? It looked to me like Ampadu was covering for Struijk. Struijk is ahead of both our two defensive midfield players in the first picture Would Rodon playing have made any difference, no one can actually know but I would have said that Struijk was well out of position.
And you’re never going to accept the point different players may alter the course of a game. So Struijk played in his natural position because Rodon is playing might have read the danger quicker than Cooper as he isn’t rusty and returning from injury so may have prevented the goal. We may have defended better as unit because Struijk might have built up an understanding with Byram and Rodon that he hasn’t developed with Cooper as yet. I’m not saying that it’s a definite that the result would be different or the goals not conceded but you seem to very closed minded to the concept. You seem to believe everything would have unfolded exactly the same whereas I’m saying the variables can affect an outcome.
I thought that’s what they were saying. That if Rodon had played RCB then Struijk would’ve been in his more natural LCB and as you yourself said would possibly have prevented goals one and three.
For the first goal, Coops was really really slow. It was like Ben Cross in Chariots of fire, when they did the slow-mo
