I keep seeing people saying Cooper isn't good enough when we've lost the last few games and shipped some goals however I think he's been good and done little wrong. Koch has more of a tally of mistakes but no one is suggesting dropping him, I am not either. I just think people need to keep the faith and not get on players back as the last two 4-1's don't reflect the games and the players imo.
Ayling CB and RB Dallas LB, RB, RW, LW, AM Alioski LB, LW, RW Koch CB, RB, DM Llorente CB, RB, DM Cooper CB Phillips DM Harrison LW, RW, CF Costa RW, LW Poveda RW, LW, AM Raphinah RW, LW CF, AM Bamford CF, AM Hernandez RW, AM Klich AM, DM Struijk CB, DM Rodrigo, CF, AM, LW, RW Still have a problem with Cooper and Phillips being one truck ponies
I’ve defended Cooper plenty of times. My honest take on him is he looks a little nervy and a bit out of his depth in the Prem - so far. However: Koch is making regular errors defensively some of which have cost goals and some he’s got away with. I’m not writing the guy off as it can take time to settle, but he’s not as commanding in the air as a guy of his stature should be and he’s got done a few times now on the ground. llorente? None of us have seen. Caveat is it’s not easy being a CH in this team, they get left exposed on the counter, especially without Phillips. Doesn’t excuse set piece/inability to deal with balls in the box.
Whichever way you look at it, whatever faults the players may or may not have, this is the best Leeds United squad for nearly 20 years, coached by the best manager since Revie. More quality players, the right ones to fit the system, will gradually be added, and on the evidence so far there are at least 6 teams who will finish below us. There'll be some poor displays and results. There'll also be some great displays and results, as already witnessed. But in our first season back, consolidation was always going to be the number one objective, whilst at the same time having a real go and not just sitting back and grinding out points here and there. We'll consolidate in an entertaining way, let's just enjoy it.
... trick is not to get ahead of ourselves when we thrash villa - and not get suicidal when we get humped by palace. personally I think a lot of football fans fail to grasp a basic principle about low scoring team sports... which is the part played by luck/fine margins on any given day. Grealish doesn’t pick ayling out on the line in the villa game., we probably don’t win. Bamford’s goal not ruled out against palace there’s every chance we don’t lose. We all know goals change games but Sometimes you score with every shot, sometimes you hit the keeper, the post, the corner flag . None of which bears any relation to how well the team have actually played. there’s a reason why coaches focus on opportunities to score - and fans often just tend to look at results.
I remember Coops turning out at LB for us early on, plus KP has played CB under Bielsa - and CM pre-Bielsa (scored 7 the season pre-Bielsa).
I knew that Jock but was more thinking under this regime as Kalvin was pants at CB under Bielsa so dont think that will go on his CV. He was steady away under other managers as AM yes but not under Bielsa and the best DM we had was sold to Sampdoria, but Bielsa chose Phillips and funnily enough he was proved right. I played in goal once too mate but not on my CV
Radrizzani out of the Highbank Stud winning on his debut Highbank have also produced Bielsa - won four out of ten races & Pablo Hernandez - lost both his races so far
Evening all... The team that got us promoted were just an average championship team before the arrival of Bielsa.. We’ve added a sprinkle of quality that suits Bielsas style and demands but these average championship players would still be just that if they were not able to do what Bielsa asks of them.
So my 13 year old says we have nothing to fear against Arsenal, apparently they're a mid table club with a poor away record and it's a game we should be winning... Anyone else share his optimism ?
We'll need to put a better team out than the one we did against Palace that's for sure. Does anyone have any news on Kalvin ?
I predicted we’d struggle against Leicester and palace and do well against arsenal and Everton. I’m 50% there, but with my record, I’ve already surpassed my prediction expectations, do we’re undoubtedly doomed
