Afternoon, Good post . It was obvious too that we had (still have) issues defending set pieces. Liverpool pulled the same routine at every corner to get the Dutch bloke free from Koch, and it worked pretty much every time too. We work on that and we should improve markedly (pun intended..).
Good afternoon everyone My chest is swelling with the pride of being a Leeds fan, one thing saturday did clear up for me, whether we struggle or not, and i don't believe we will, is that no team will turn us over this season.
I’m not convinced we won’t have a 4-0 score line go against us. Our goals were class all well taken, we know how many time Harrison hit the woodwork and how many Paddy missed last season.
last season in every game we created loads of chances and Harrison hit the woodwork more times than any player in the Championship as well as nipping in with half a dozen goals. Paddy scored 16 from probably 35 good chances. Klich fluffed his lines a few times as well as chipping in and Pablo hit almost double figures and missed a few. On Saturday we scored half of the created chances for the first time ever under Bielsa. Klich and Harrison 100% and Bamford 50%. If they can keep this up brilliant but we also have Rodrigo goals to come and Koch always scores a couple every season aa will always chip in. The futures bright was also obvious listening to pundits that none of them know how good Bielsa is. Every one of them said chances in the Prem are few and far between and you have to take them. A couple said you only get one chance in the Prem and if you fail you lose. We created 5 and took 3
Congratulations to Mark Jackson who has been promoted to be the new U23 coach, replacing Carlos Corberan https://www.leedsunited.com/news/academy/27041/mark-jackson-to-lead-under-23s
Afternoon, chaps. I'm still surfing the elation wave, but reality is beginning to check in now. Like everyone else, I've got a little carried away in celebrating a defeat - my first time ever, I think! It's now struck me though that we scored 2 breakaways & a wonderfully well-worked goal. Thank you for the opportunities, Liverpool. But what if we'd played one of the many teams that park the bus, & don't offer up these opportunities - as we will for most of the season. It's our biggest failing, sadly. How elated would we have been if we'd played one of these teams & struggled - no matter the result? The fact is, we simply won't be allowed to play as openly as this very often. We thrive on space & we got it. How often are we going to get the space we love so much? Answers on a postcard ..... To quote Eire from last season - let's assess after 10 games.
I think for the first half of the season not many teams will park the bus against us. Most teams in the Premier league try and play and that will go on our favour. If we do put a few teams to the sword and find ourselves in a respectable position then after Xmas some of the lower table teams may then play differently against us.
I reckon the arrogance of some of these coaches will have them trying to outhink Bielsa, so at least until we’ve played them all once we can expect chances to play. Maybe not with Fulham and WBA
As a newly promoted team, I think the clubs expected to be “in and around us” won’t park the bus thinking we are three points for the taking. We’re not thought to be a top half side yet.
