I think the goalie debate is a bit of a red herring to be honest. West Brom had 20 shots at our goal from only 28% possession which tells me they were winning the ball in our half, not passing it about at the back. Our keeper wasn't the problem though he didn't cover himself in glory (again), we repeatedly gave the ball away and lost the 50/50s in midfield, and big Philips pushed us about all afternoon. They had a game plan, they wanted it more than we did and we had an off day, but it's only one game. We need to learn a few lessons, not least the benefits of having a pop from outside the box on a regular basis - no, not you Alioski. IBWT.
Not sure it is a red herring,as he seems to save very few distance shots on target,I think teams maybe targeting him, shooting from anywhere, and it's paying off.
Dunno about that, but it is true that BPF has misjudged a few longer range shots, and most of his good saves have been from closer in. Strange one really. The West Brom keeper’s statue impression for pablo’s slow motion header was poor keeping as well. Davy’s right about the real problem on saturday though, they had 20 shots with eff all possession and not too many were speculative.
Evening Doc and all. Thought Pearce wasn't picked as he hasn't been playing. Alioski & Pontus 'strategic' injuries perhaps?
He seems slow to get down to low shots, we lost the ball in midfield but he should have gobbled up their 2nd all day long. Football is a ruthless business and if we want promotion this year we haven't got the luxury to allow him to learn on the job. Problem is we have no way of knowing if Blackman is any better.
Check out the story for the Leeds Xmas lights switch on, Pearce was wearing a boot on one foot, hence not been selected for the squad. Pontus went over on his ankle Saturday if you remember so Ireckon he has a slight sprain. Hes in Sweden with wife and kid and flys back Friday for treatment so cant be that bad
Evening all. The reaction to the loss by a section of our fans is once again embarrassing. Yes it hurts that we lost and the manner in which we lost as well but to abuse the players is ridiculous. The way some talk you would think that is our season over. In truth we had a bad day against a promotion rival who are just coming off the back of their bad period. We are third in the league only 3 points from top in November with basically the same squad as last year, this is the stuff we dreamed of last season. Lots of things went wrong Saturday with a lot of players having off days at the same time against a Premier Leagueesque squad having a good day. It is not the time to call crisis just yet. As for everyone saying who should be dropped/picked, while everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would leave the team as was barring injuries and give everyone a chance to redeem themselves. I saw a tweet that pretty much summed up why the same players need a chance. It went something like this - Leeds twitter last week- "It was like watching Brazil, We are the best team in the league, Bielsaball rules. Leeds twitter this week- "Bielsa is stupid, We are not good enough to go up, Thats it now, be lucky to make play offs."
We were caught out on the break from a penalty shout out from us where we didn't play to the whistle. From that instance when the ball reached their player, our two defenders on him paused looking for offside and let him go. We never really recovered from that. Our players further up the pitch gave away the ball time after time and although BPF should have maybe got the second one, he still managed to pull off 3 saves during the game even though 4 went in. No one talks about those but all the goals were not his fault. I don't want Blackman in and I don't want to go down the lines of last season where we dropped Wiedwald and no one knew how to play after that. The grass certainly wasn't greener and we went downhill rapidly. In my opinion we have to stick with what we are trying to do otherwise it will all be a waste of time again.
Didn’t someone post a pic of Pearce in a leg brace yesterday? Edit... ignore, see Doc pointed it out earlier
Remind me, is this the same WBA side that put 4 past Norwich at Norwich and only managed to score 7 against QPR? I agree some people react like demented goldfish at times
