I suspect it’s a far easier job scouting young lads for an under 23 squad. Senior footballl is a vastly higher level and only time will tell how many if any become regular senior players

Here’s a further question. What if it turn out Orta is hopeless? How many seasons and how much money will we have wasted by the time he’s shown the door. I’ve never been convinced by him and most of our better players weren’t his signings at all

I personally thought Philips was a revelation over the season, he may have faded a bit near the end, but that could be down to fatigue. As for Cooper, IMO he's had an outstanding season and unfortunately he left it to the playoff at ER to make one of his mistakes. I still can't understand him pulling the lads shirt. <ok>

    Morning all
Totally agree on this, confidence throughout the team begins at the back with the keeper, keeper starts making howlers confidence disappears, you could see that after a great initial start to the season, Bpf started to drop clangers then a marked deterioration in results, then picked up again when Kiko was no1 only to find results dipping again as defence lost confidence in him with some of his suicidal decisions.
NO1 PRIORITY,for the season a Quality keeper, then build from their.

So just to add, never mind Bielsaball, the number one job for a goalie is and always should be to keep the bloody ball from going into the net,for this to happen we need Bielsa to look behind his idea of what a goalkeeper should be, or we will end up with another Kiko and do we really want that?. I guess their are keepers out their who have great distribution, who is a great shot stopper, and has a sense of great positioning, but they are probably 15m +,so get one thats just great at the basics like keeping the ball out of the net, because we arn't going to find the above for our budget of 3-4m or less.

I don't take you personal Ristac, I just get the funny feeling you're in love with Phillips.......:emoticon-0105-wink:

I'm well aware of what people are saying about Phillips, same as I was aware what they were saying about Wood, Mowett, Cook and a few others. I'm still not changing my stance on Phillips, and despite continually asking people to tell me where he brings an impact to team, no one does or can.

Personally, I hope he leaves so we can get a proper footballer in his position, sadly, those teams who were supposedly showing an interest have gone a bit quiet.

He's constantly out of position, doesn't cover or back up his defenders, goes awol and missing during some games, and seems to give up easy when he's suppose to be running back to help out the defence, especially down Aylings side.

Many supporters are talking on an emotional level, Kiko is the scapegoat choice, just like Berardi is after being sent off, it seems to be a trend.

Problem with most Leeds supporters is, they expect promotion, they get themselves so wired up and animated it's a long fall when we don't get promoted, happens every season.

To be promoted, we need the players to get us promoted, players who can get over the final hurdle and don't become complacent, go awol or missing in action, I don't think Phillips is one of those players............I said a while back, Phillips sidewards and backwards passing will do his passing stats a lot of good, average of 58.4 passes per game shows that.

Phillips does some things right occasionally, and while you're salivating over his assist, try asking where was he for Derby's 4 goals, the highlights clearly show where he was, and should've been........:emoticon-0148-yes:

I’ve felt he is hopeless from day one, last season many would argue his signings were not too bad but how many played, how many were made to look better due to the coaching skills of Bielsa and his team? On a positive, he listens to Bielsa, Bielsa likes him, it gives us continuity and a working relationship that actually works, if Bielsa had walked who would work as a coach not a manager bringing in their own signings.

I absolutely understand this line of thinking, but would say this.
    1. If the keeper is happy sweeping and has good distribution it is fundamental to the whole way of playing with the high press. By a keeper who can’t do it, you'll Get more fck ups if they try, and the whole system the team plays has to change.
    2. It isn’t easy for the keepers who are good at it and it leads to more positional mistakes and general cock ups when playing g out from the back. In bielsa’s world that’s the acceptable risk.
    3. He ain’t changing his philosophy!

Casilla makes too many judgement errors but is a decent shot stopper. BPF plays the role well... his errors were some decision making and some shot stopping issues. It seemed to be on shots from distance, makes me think that’s a nerves/tension thing.. as they were easier saves than some of the very good closer in ones he made. Would time help that? Probably in my view. Can we risk that? Tougher call.

If Bielsa isn't happy with Kiko coming out of his area, he only has to tell him to stop.

You can’t really stop players making in game decisions. Kiko needs to be 100% sure he’s getting the ball when he leaves his line.

My take on BPF's comments was that he was gutted that we didn't win promotion from the position we were in at Xmas, and he was spot on that from then on we didn't really deserve it in the end because of the way we played., I don't see it as an attack on his teammates, just he was really disappointed.
When BPF played the whole team lost as well as him, like the whole team, as you say lost when the Clown was in goal, you can't have it both ways.
I note you count all BPF's games played yet don't count Casillas play off games. these subtle omissions to back your argument up don't wash with me, the fact is, BPF's win/loss ratio to Casillas was better, you can fudge it as much as you like, but that is a fact
Casilla was brought in to make us better, we got worse and blew the best chance of promotion in years

.....and cheaper as often as not. Just picked up a couple of Fernox F4 Express system leak sealers for someone - £19.98 each.

I paid £25.99 for exactly the same item in Scrwewfix a few weeks back. <doh>

Your fixation with cock is a worry, I didn't think they had ****ters in cardiff<diva> My screwfix comment was because of the wallies love of signing brickies, chippys etc etc:)

Didn't realise your reason for mentioning Screwfix - but I do now. <ok>

No ****ters in Cardiff mate (well there are a few I know of <whistle>) - we have plenty of sheep who don't get bitchy and answer back.
