Charlton player referenced it worryingly straight after game. When asked at the time, bowyer said he wasn’t aware of anything. Another odd thing. After last seasons final home game, when players did the traditional lap of honour together, Kiko and his two kids were totally away from rest of squad and families. Remember thinking at the time this looks odd. Anyone else spot it

The way Roberts played yesterday made me have a think about our U23s and the gulf between them and the first team. Yes we are lucky that we have players like Gotts, McCalmont, Shackelton and Davies coming through but there is indeed a big gulf in quality.

over the last couple of seasons I've seen some players who cannot get into the first team look like worldies for the 23s. Cibicki played for half hour in one match and scored 2 screamers, he played another half in a later match and scored again. Izzy Brown last season was actually the player of the year for the 23s and he only played half the season but scored 8 goals and created plenty as well as looking on a different planet at times. Bamford was different class when coming back from those bad injuries Tyler Roberts has also looked in a different league in the 23s. Bogusz is a baby but way too good for the U18s and at times too good for the 23s though last week he was the worst player on the pitch. Kun and Edmondson shine also and need to be tested at a higher level. Jordan Stevens can be class just like his mate Sam Dalby who now its on the bench for Watford after leaving us in the Summer. Miazek is good but not in the same league as Meslier the gulf is obvious when you see them. Watch out for Nohan Kennah

Izzy Brown in the championship team of the month for Luton, could have taken us up last season given the chance, but like Eddie,Jannson and Saiz, Bielsa doesn't like star players.

It really doesn't happen to them and they have not been enslaved, persecuted and murdered, for the most part, because of it.

Jonny, you're possibly one of the bulk of Americans that don't realise that it wasn't just black Africans that were enslaved in the US. The Scots and Irish were too, and actually commanded higher prices, as they were 'house trained', so to speak.

For aeons before, elsewhere in the world, slaves were the spoils of war. It wasn't a racist thing, more of a power / greed thing, you could say..

I am aware and I am also aware of the significant differences in their respective experiences:
    - the numbers involved,
    - languages spoken,
    - harshness of treatment.
    Slavery is just one aspect.

Not to mention skin color and the ability to assimilate or not because of it.

Well if your mate Lincoln had sent them back from where they were captured and given them money to buy land then you'd not have as many social problems in USA as you do today. Playing football has nothing to do with them being persecuted, I'm saying that other cultures have been equally abused on the pitch, but they don't go running to the authorities about it. What goes on the pitch stays on the pitch IMO or should do. The best way to answer name calling is to beat the team or score against the team and their supporters. This is a political and social thing and IMO should not be used in sport. FFS they've even started printing kick out racism on the footballs or soccer balls as you yankees call them...<ok>

Been watching a program on Vikings on TV and most of the Scotish Islands were taken over by Vikings and the local population all killed or sold into slavery.
And don't forget the work houses in the UK, they were run as slave labour, and currantly nearly all slave workers brought illegally into the UK are white, and most taken into the USA are South Americans not Blacks.
