Agree. Sensible transfer. Didn't play much last season. We probably won't miss him too much as we signed players to cover the area he vacated.
Agreed you don't turn cash down. He could have got another injury and we would have been stuck. Plus he is not that quick and the trio we bought are all faster than him.
Just regarding Forshaw. He was outstanding for us last season on the few occasions he played. Thought he did really well. The lad has had a 2 year absence due to a serious injury and has had multiple operations. After such a long time out his body is not conditioned to the work that comes with being a top level footballer. It will have been expected that he gets the odd niggle here and there. It's just how the human body works as the load increases. I'm not saying signing him on again was right or wrong but the niggly injuries should not be a surprise to us.
Forshaw was adequate rather than outstanding. No mean feat given he'd been out for 2 years and returned to PL football when the level he'd found himself in when injured was the Championship. Neat and tidy for sure but no real pace and lacks creativity but he's not alone in that when it comes to midfielders who's primary objective seems to be to recycle the ball in as simple a fashion as possible...or all fur coat and no knickers players as I call them Billy Bremner...now there was an outstanding midfielder.
We've also had plenty from the Wilko and O'Leary eras who make Forshaw look bang average. Not knocking Forshaw just saying he's a level below what we really need but can still do a job for us when fit.
I have to say Jammy that I was one of those who thought we should have let him go after his last injury. But although he has his limits, I thought he looked quite lively when he did get back on the pitch.
Yeh he did quite well but still need to have a yank on Emu's chain every now and again. Outstanding my arse
Think sometimes we all need to take a step back and look at the players in a different light. Under Wilko or DoL we had some worldies but we dont right now. We slag off Rodrigo mainly because he broke our transfer record but that fee is insignificant compared to what most clubs in this league spend on a player. Most of the squad were Championship and L1 players, like League 1 Liam. Firpo who has still to show what he can do cost just over £10m and hasnt been fit yet. Forshaw cried this time last Summer when he came on in pre season because he never thought he was going to get back and play again. He was with his family in the stand at the end of the game in tears. No not Billy Bremner just an unlucky pro fighting his way back. Lets hope to see some improvements in form for all our players but as yet I dont think we have comparable players to what we had yet
He was our best midfielder last season. He stood out from the rest and was therefore outstanding. please log in to view this image
Better than phillips who did just enough when he came back. City was on his mind and to me was not our best midfielder.
