Wales Online are reporting Villa are ahead of us now in the race to sign Costa and Sheffield U are also ahead of us now in trying to sign Freeman
Jonty is great although he does like to go fishing and surprised Eire hasn't come across him from the original BBC site? Eire and WJ comments on transfer funds are as sound as anything anyone can guess/know and LoL comments on rolling the dice back in January is top post for me on this thread. If we had done that we would be watching some top players come in instead of hoping we can get some loans over the line. The VAT issue is why Orta does most of his work overseas. Its cheaper and doesnt have a VAT tax like here Still a lack of VISIBLE activity on the tranny front with the players due back soon for pre season. Spurs and Clarke seems closer but whilst we toss about waiting on Clarke Costa may be poached by Villa but that would mean a transfer fee because makes no sense for Wolves to loan him to them? Heard last night that takeover stuff is still going on with Radz looking at exit???? Not sure if any truth in it at all but different slant
Doc, maybe I remember it incorrectly but back in jan, when some of us were saying it was a tragedy to not invest to strengthen and secure promotion... weren’t you defending the club’s transfer strategy? I didn’t see it as rolling the dice to be honest. It was plain business sense to protect a position. Buying insurance. When the fire came we had nothing to put it out with and no cover. Pun intended
Just for the record I don’t mind if Radrizzani stays (and the MP was well within his rights to do what he did)
Here’s a question you may know answer to Doc. In all other lines of business vat on purchases is offset against sales. If football is same then the VAT content of sales and purchases becomes irrelevant. Just checking as have no idea of UK tax system
I agree with half of that Forza, the MP was dead right Actually dont mind Radz hanging around but in a minority shareholder capacity
Not convinced on the TOMA front. If it is to QSI what would be the hold up (other than price), they clearly have the money so no proof of funds necessary. Also think it will still be a couple of weeks before the transfer market really gets into swing.

The trespassing bhitch made a meal of it no right to enter the building. She should be prosecuted and sent to a womans prison. Believe me she would come out a different person.
Milky think you'll find that I was begging them to buy Esequil Ponce or Alex Prijovic as Orta was known to have watched both. I said we needed goals mate. As mentioned before no clubs are buying much because of FFFP rules and now looks like Wendies are trying to beat their up and coming points deduction
If you buy a player from inside Europe you pay no VAT. EU intra liability means you dont get charged VAT but you declare it here and reclaim it so it becomes zero liability so a big difference in price
When we buy a player, we pay VAT that we'll never see again. HMRC 1 - Leeds United 0. When we sell a player, we receive the 20% VAT element, but have to immediately pay it to HMRC. So, HMRC 1 - Leeds United 0. Let's look at player A.N.Other: When we bought him for £10m, we paid out 100% of the reported fee, e.g. it cost us £10m for what was reported as a £10m signing. When we sold him for a reported £10m, HMRC got 20%, & let's be generous & say that the agents only got 20% too, meaning we only got £6m. So before you even look at signing on fees etc., you've lost £4m on that player - and that's only if he maintains his valuation.
