Cavaleiro? More of a winger, I think who can play striker, but doesn’t score many. There were rumours last month that wolves would sell one and loan one. I guess there’s a case that Clarke money could finance that. Have to say, on the face of it it would be good business, costa and cavaleiro are both mid 20’s and were prominent in the Wolves side that won promotion... and both got air time last season... though obviously deemed surplus to requirements. Would make sense to get two Portuguese in together to help them settle. Sounds too good to be true, so probably is!
Dont feel too bad about our centenary badge now. Salford city reds have been compared to Lion King dart flights
Latest on Clarke is that a substantial offer has been received but not the £20m valuation Leeds gave him, but above the original £10m Levy originally offered. I reckon this will get settled with add ons etc. The Spuds insider also hinted that they had a feeling Leeds need to sell before buying, which is worrying
Now tell us something we didn’t know. Maybe like viera/Bamford which happened too quickly for it not to be tied in, we’ll See Clarke out and replacement in straight away. Let’s hope so. Sad to see young talent go, but he’s a work in progress and maybe we need finished articles more at the moment. It’s obvious Clarke is going, let’s get him out and replacements in as soon as possible.
Meow. First choice. Keep everyone and add some better players. We know that’s not an option, with Radz at the helm. So if we have to cash in, to overall improve the squad. The asset that probably least impacts next season’s fortunes? Would have to be Clarke. If he goes AND the money goes on cavaliero and Costa, might be for the best short term at least. Big if/and obviously.
Why worrying? It’s common knowledge Radz can barely afford to keep the club going and we have to sell to buy. He’s turned us around but he needs to sell up to some big hitters who can take us to the next level. Fail this season and he’s defo gone.
If it happens: Foreshaw £5m =£1.7m now and £1.7m yr2 and £1.7m yr3 Saiz £2m =£1m now and £1m yr2 Cibicki £2m = £1m now and £1m yr2 Ideguchi £1m =£0.5m now and £0.5m yr2 Ekuban £1m =£0.5m now and £0.5m yr2 Clarke £11m = £3.7m now and £3.7m yr2 and £3.7m yr3 + add ons Total now =£8.4m plus whatever else from player sales which is due in from sales over last 2 seasons plus whatever we get for Danny Rose. In effect we have over £20m to spend spread over 3 years Also have other players to sell too who have been out on loan, like Coyle and Wilks and also we have to factor in wages
Why the surprise at having to sell before we buy? Been like that since Ridsdale spent the family jewels. Most clubs sell before they buy - even PL clubs. I just don't get this surprise thing. I'm surprised people are surprised!
Sorry but with all due respect Doc, thats not what it means. Club lost 14m reportedly by Phil Hay in last season. Rads said he hasnt the money to cover that so first 14m from sales will be to cover the losses
Ok Eire lets say you're correct and we don't improve the squad. £8m from sales equates to a £6m loss which then becomes £22m at the end of this season because we are guaranteed to lose at least another £14m and will not win promotion. Each year we dont do any business we carry on losing money and start to hit the £39m loss barrier which makes no sense. We cannot stand still with this squad we have to improve it or may as well get rid of Bielsa and our best players and do a Wigan or Reading and just amble along. There has to be a business plan to service the debt as well as improving the squad. We are in a place right now when a couple of bits of good business means we get promoted. Staying as we are means losing more cash this season which is stupid as we may as well sell and have no debt but do nothing. Spending a few million now means promotion then no debt carry over. In this league we can go to £39m debt and we only get trouble if we buy bad and dont go up. Just what Birmingham, Villa, Wednesday, and Swansea are up against
