Happen to agree with you about over-hyping the kids and their readiness to step up so soon, but there's no denying that Grot is enormous but doesn't use his size. I know it's almost non-contact in football in Holland but if someone could teach him a nasty streak imagine what he might be. Maybe MM could get him smashing defenders (don't know what his heart is for that though).
Someone on here championed him as a rolls Royce player, can't remember who but the little I saw of him I expect him to drop leagues rapidly. I wish him well but glad he's gone
I still think there's a player in Grott if handled correctly. Maybe a league one loan out if we can strengthen up front may do him some good.
TBH they must rate him, just think he lacked the physicality for the championship, which surprises me he's signing because I can't believe 'big sam' wants a rolls royce player rather than a 'no nonsense' hard defender (unless big sam is about to be sacked)

Point is our fans pay good money for their season-tickets/away days & we expect to watch championship type footballers. If I was a Bury/Carlisle/Yeovil/etc supporter I'd could understand watching bog-standard players every week. Grot may develop into a decent player but it was blatantly obvious he wasn't ready for the rigours of the championship last season, needs to put himself about as you said
Appreciate I only saw him on the telly and not live, but he always appeared to look like a boy against men.
