I think we've cleared out the deadwood and missed out on two or three targets. We've had bids for Lars Bender, Louis Suarez rejected and I think we missed a trick not getting Gustavo. But what can you do, if the player doesn't want to come or the club don't want to sell, then there's not much you can do about it. I still think we'll sign a couple of players before the end of the window. It's usually when the most exciting business gets done anyway as clubs are trying to hold onto / increase the price for the best players. As Wenger said, ideally you'd like to get your business done early, but other than city, all of the top clubs have been pretty quiet so far this window, including Chelsea.
If you can sign a couple of key players then top four is yours again but recent history seems to suggest you won't!
Actually if recent history is anything to go by, we'll do another trolley dash on the last day of the window
So West Ham v Cardiff today... Also Sunderland v Fulham.... And Arsenal v Villa... I see an Arsenal win. West Ham to draw. And Fulham to lose.
Well if it trumps the spuds eh Check out the thread on the United board btw everyone, Carrick has apparently been as good if not better than both Lampard and Gerrard for them.
I just hope this means we will pull out all the stops to buy some players Today was a ****ing shambles
Ozil factor will wear off soon enough... And you got lucky against the Mackems. Atkinson got you that win
Not sure I agree really. There's no point in people trying to downplay the Ozil signing, it's a magnificent signing and they now definitely have two of the top 5 best "number 10's" in the country (others being Hazard, Mata and Silva for me). What's clear as daylight is Arsenal are a lot more potent than us going forward. They'll definitely score more goals than us this season for sure, but their Achilles heal will be the defence. Whilst Arsenal were fortunate with the Altidore incident, it's not like Sunderland battered them all half (see Chelsea v United last season) and were then undone by several scandalous refereeing calls. Arsenal got the win their performance deserved. There's not a lot in it, but if Chelsea have earnt the right to be contenders then Arsenal most certainly are if they keep their key players fit. They only finished a couple of points behind us and have a manager equally as experienced at this level.
Their first XI is excellent but an injury to any one of Giroud, Ozil, Walcott or Wilshere and there's not an awful lot to come in. Good as that XI is, can't see them finishing close to you.
