I did. Your post is bang out of order. Delete it and I will delete the quote, maybe you don't understand how offensive that word is, I am happy to give you the benefit of the doubt. But, seriously, it is beyond what should be posted here.
I don't have a problem doing that, do you? Explain how middle class and Pikey come together? Interesting concept
Go **** yourself! how dare you dictate to me about using a short name for Diego when you're too uneducated to know the difference!
You are just going to explode with anger one of these days. Why on earth do you get so angry on a footie forum, don't get it all. I have personal experience of that word being used, find an Iberian person and get their view on it. In what way did I dictate to you? I asked you to reconsider your use of a nasty inappropriate term.
Probably because you come here pontificating your false sense of morality and you are dictating now. do yourself a favour and stick your head in the freezer for an hour.
Robbie, do you have tattoos and a pitbull? If not, is that what you dream about getting, when you leave school?
What we appear to have here is an orchestrated attempt to get someone banned. Robbie has already posted the context of his usage of the word 'Dago' and used in that context which I believe is factual according to Wikipedia. I see no reason for the ambiguity and faux outrage by spurs fans in particular. On a personal note this is a very underhanded attempt to pressure our moderators like they seem to have done on their own board. We should not tolerate this shameful behaviour.
Ginge, forgetting for a second that the poster in question is a serial abuser of others on the board, surely if he really knew the full history of the word then he would know that it is predominantly used as a racial slur nowadays. Given his, shall we say, posting style, I think it's likely he has backtracked as best he can. For the record, I think a ban would be going too far though I don't see anyone calling for it. I would like to think that a mod or two had had a quiet word about this and his behaviour on other threads but that's their prerogative.
I think there is a real problem here and I would temp ban them both until the season starts so they can cool off. Although to be fair to Robbie he was always a good contributor on the BBC 606 and here. Can't really say that of the other chap tbf.
This thread is unbelievable!! I can't even begin to show my feelings on this thread without causing a sh(i)t storm. Needless to say, I have a lot of Spanish friends, and if you called any of them Dago, you had best be prepared to run!
Also means 'Dago is short for Spanish first name "Diego". "Diego" as a generic name or term for a "Spaniard" is documented from around 1615, and "dago" is used as such still in the 19th century.[1] However, sometime in the late 19th century or early 20th century, the term "dago" became an ethnic slur chiefly for Italians and people of Italian descent. Source Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dago Which part of a **** storm was you going to cause? are your friends Italian?
Christ, now I remember why I didn't read this topic. Talk about something like how **** the weather is to amuse yourselves please.
lol half my family is Italian Doesnt matter if it was a generic term or was acceptable Ossie. There's a certain word beginning with N that was commonly used and acceptable in the 1800's.....You can figure out what that word is for yourself I am sure. Doesnt make it any less offensive.
More importantly how ruthless and efficient were we against Milan. Looking good again. And no fat Spanish (are we allowed to day that) waiter in sight
