You're right, as I played football up there some years ago. And I tell you what, the pitches were immaculate. Like playing on a snooker table it was, I was well impressed.

My all-time hero went to Shrewsbury School, John Peel RIP. He used to go down the Meadow when not watching his beloved Liverpool. One of his kids has the middle-name, Anfield. But apparently it was a toss-up between that & GAY. :)

Does Herbie Price still have a butchers on the left as you enter Welshpool from Salop or Oswestry? They used to be the best pork pies in the world and could be part of our set-up.

AJ...a little democracy please .....I will have a cask of GVC sent up even if just for my consumption.

Agree that Timmy Taylor is good....never had a bad pint of it.
Otter is fabulous and at Xmas Otter Claus is a great tipple.
If anyone wants a list of great pubs in Derby....remember August 9th.....then happy to provide.

8 casks of green valley cider on its way. if preferred to thatchers it will replace it if members agree. if anyone is in the minehead area on 11/9 or 12/9 there is a giant camra beer festival at the west somerst railway station of minehead. 100 ales, ciders and perries on tap. each train will have draught ales aboard. entry by special glass.

talking of butchers any one remember eddie or charlie edwards top of wyle cop. i believe he was a pst director or chairman of the shrews. there is a framed 1949 team photo of shrews in the railway inn yorton. i am sure edwards is on there. perhaps matster will confirm.

What were the Shrews doing in The Railway Inn?

Wyle Cop used to have great shops....will take a look next time in town.

Two games without a goal, Rocky. Bet you are regretting letting Harrold go. There is still, however, Nathan Elder available. Worth a look. Scores one out of every ten chances but would still out score more than your current squad by the look of it.

A pub in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, the Smoking Dog, my old local for a couple of years used to bring out a tray of roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds and gravy as an evening bar snack on a Sunday night. Lovely!!

regarding the loggerheads beer festival, local staffing problems have now been resolved so come what may opening hours on saturday 6.8.11, will be 10.30am- midnight. more news to follow as to whether our opening game goes ahead, the latest position is that the FL have sent risdale's plans and the irish gib consortium back to the drawing board.

i suppose uncle graham could put on a training display from his new squad and introduce them to the fans, still let us hope plymouth are allowed to attend. floreat salopia

latest news from lake titicaca, is that during a filmed episode of extreme fishing, our friend blob caught robson green who may be missing from our screens for a bit. well done blob. i understand robson was caught on an emerald red boily with blue feathers on a size 12 hook and a shuttlecock as a float!
