Them and West Ham have gone for it completely, and if they f*ck up, the brown stuff will hit the proverbial fan. I hope they fail.
The spine of the team will be the same as last season with Bamba, Oakley, Abe, Wellens, King, Gallagher and Vassell so there will be changes but not massive changes. We are going austria and Sweden for pre season and playing against Real Madrid, Valencia, PSV, Wolfsburg and Real Mallorca so team bonding wont be a problem
So you would. We got Matty Fryatt and (probably) Jack Hobbs, so if their rejects are of the same calibre as those two, take them. PS. Alright, we got Nobby Solano as well, but the guy's a Peruvian legend.
They've bought solid Championship players, but I wouldn't say i'm envious of who they've bought. We may wish ill on Sven but Leicester will be there or there abouts.
Because NC has a good business head and will spend at thd right price for the right player identified by NA. I trust they'll do it right.
All this talk about stabilising or going straight for promotion is very hypothetical. Firstly no player goes out to lose or draw a game of football. He goes out to win and to win as many games as possible. Getting promoted while an aspiration is secondary to the actual mentality needed. Mentally you go out to win not to stabilise. So you have either got a squad that can do it, or you ain't, it is unlikely that you can pick and choose when you want to be promoted. Of course by getting better standard players this is likely to increase your chances although it doesn't guarantee it. Some teams have set their stall out by buying high priced players to increase their chances. However what have they left if they do not succeed. A classic example of that was Huddersfield last year. Went out and spent a lot of money pre season (for div1 a lot) brought in a lot of good players didn't lose a game, eventually after being beaten by us. Then sadly lost one. Didn't get promoted!! They showed the early season intent by spending money. It just goes to show that is not any guarantee of success!
Beddytare, I like to think about as a business budget; you assess what you'll need in expenditure to reach a level of value or achievement while keeping the books balanced and possibly including some speculation. If I want to grow sales in my business do I go and employ my competitors top 5 sales people in 50k a year and hope they generate inexcess of 250k profit? Probably not! I'd maybe tale on 1 and encourage the existing ones to up performance; I wouldn't risk the future of the business on wanting to fasttrack achievements. This is what NC is doing now.
I agree, & would also like to add, we are far more suited to the Championship than L1. The 'everybodies cup final' takes it toll after some time, but this coming season, we can play football on the floor, at grounds far better suited to our game. I'm really looking forward to this coming season.
More transfer funds than Boscombe, that's for sure!....good luck next season, I can see you being the next Swindon...
If Leicester are going to do well, and I think they will, it will probably build through the season as the their team gells, from an inconsistent start to a really strong back end (A bit like us last season anyone?) so I wouldnt laugh too much if they get off to a wobbly start. I am sure NC and NA know what they are doing, but right now I would feel happier if we had just done what Leicester have done.
Possibly true, but if our cheap signings do as well or better than the big money signings, we'll be the ones laughing. It's why we have scouts all over the place and Adkins/Wilkins jetting off to Italy.
lol i knew you would have to have a dig at us..... you have more funds then us correct ,and for us to be the next Swindon, maybe..but then again i believe we will be more than fine next year... Then again with NC we dont really know his aim........of the money he has to deal with, how much etc etc......
i see pompey have got varney for £750k - thats over £1m they have spent since getting taken over now.... ok now im getting concerned at lack of signings!! not that i rate either of their signings but still...come on! plus how do you know NA and Wilko are off to Italia?
It would depend on whether that was gross or net profit. It would also depend if you had built the right infrastructure first. If the infrastructure is in place your choice is short term profit versus long term expansion later supplying even greater profits. So you either buy out the opposition or you expand past them. You will not do that without removing your obstacles Which means you have to go for the best.......No brainers really.
