Looks like the play-offs and relegation could have a real shake-up on Saturday. We have Morecambe, Gills, Fleetwood and Wombles all fighting for 2 safe places. If Wombles don't win they are relegated. If they win they would still be relegated if Gills win. The final relegation places won't be decided until the final day I suspect Wycombe need to win to stay in contention for a play-off place. But all the other scores are going against us at present and with Wigan, Rotherham and MK Dons all showing they aren't certs to beat anyone at present, anything could happen. I don't know why I torment myself looking at all the possible outcomes on Saturday. I'm sure some things will be finalised (realistically) on Saturday and I'm just as sure that some won't be decided until the final day. It's going to be nerve racking for several teams, including us, although we are pretty much out of it already
Gills I suppose was always destined to be a draw against Fleetwood, we have a poor record against them in recent times. I lumped on a win, but that's because I didn't want to have to think beyond a win, which is clearly what they were not capable of. Now we have to do things the hard way, away at Pompey and then at home to Rotherham on last day of the season. I see the only way my lot will stay up, is if the other teams could kindly mess up big time, along the lines of what was suggested in part in Ron's post. Remember, gambling this time of the season is always a bigger risk, because the weaker teams up their game, and the bigger teams might want to rest players for any play-off finals, others might decide to go on holiday earlier.
You can drive yourself completely mad looking at the endless possibilities either at the top or bottom of the table. I've given up on it and have decided what is just plain is and there is feck all I can do to change it anyway. If we make it to the play offs then I will buy my ticket for the home game. If we don't then that will save me £20 or so and a midweek night match. Strangely I had a conversation with my group on the subject of what happens if we got to the final again this season. Who would or wouldn't go to Wembley. After the last visit a few years ago and around £300 spent for a complete crap game the consensus was half of us wouldn't bother and would watch it on tele. Until that time comes.................(we are all as weak as s*** aren't we).
