not really sure about 1 or in fact 27 of them …..although I can see the point of some of them up to a point where I cant really understand where the drink comes from unless a 80 year pensioner in a taxi from 50 miles away delivers it with the intention of walking home but decides they cant manage it so gets a bus part of the way then thumbs a lift in a fiat 500 using her knickers as a face mask.. or taking off her bra and using it as double for both of them...

What was IEC, did it have anything to do with NEC group or am I getting mixed up? It was many years back, but I worked at Intel in Swindon myself, which JGF referred to.

Blimey - I didn’t realise so many people knew Swindon so well!
Most people (who weren’t born here) try to avoid it <laugh>

Look me up when you’re next in town!

I used to work with WH Smith at Greenbridge Road, and with Smiths News at Pipers Way both of whom were my customers when I was an IT Service Delivery Manager

A couple of people I used to work with when I was at Somerfield went to work there in the late 1990s early 2000s - you may have come across them. I’ll PM you.

rod … seen it reversed! When in Scotland [ this time of year ] Myself and a GP went to the rescue of a ewe n trouble in field outside of our hut ...the shepherd tuned up just as we/ gp moreso was about to give aid to the poor lamb who was stuck … "he said oh my gosh are you a vet [ he knew I wasn't as met a few times before ] My mate said "sort of" as his hand reappeared after freeing the leg, " I normally treat humans!!! " …. The shepherd said thankyou, But I usually use a glove pulling a couple from his pocket, did you check for a twin while you were up there!!!!

    I’d left by then JGF.
I started at Gateway Building 5 Cater Road in 1987 and left a few years after they had moved to the Whitchurch building in 1996 to come to Allied Dunbar in Swindon.
I used to live in Grange Road in Bishopsworth and cycled to work most days.

    Not any more
They ‘merged’ with Zurich in early 2000s and I was binned off in 2003.
After a REALLY horrible dark time I got work again in Reading working for a German software company based in Spencer’s Wood. They were truly awful (the Germans were ok but the British management were shocking)
Luckily I managed to get back into Financial Services - I went back to basics as a computer operator but took the financial hit because the company was a very good one.
Now I’m an IT Project Manager and loving my job.

Yes and I did that sometimes too!
Most of the time I actually drove though - so I could nip up to the Dundry Inn for a crafty pint after work <cheers>

Still like the Dundry Inn!! Always gives me a feeling of nostalgia whoever runs it - remember being ratted on 3 pints (those were the days!) and stumbling down over the fields with my mates back to Lower Dundry <laugh>

I've great memories of Dundry hill and surrounding areas, we used to go scrunping and picking bundles of fresh watercress from the streams that used to cascade down towards Chew and the A38, my best memories are when we (My brothers) used to get our old skates and a large book, sit on the book, balanced on the skate and roar down the hill towards Withywood, I lived in Turtlegate Avenue, shoes scuffed and legs scrazed, our mum used to do her nut, great days, good memories and not many cars.

I won't mention the Dandies we made from old pram wheels.

What was that futuristic manufacturing building in North Swindon about 20 years ago - Dyson? I used a mailing house near there, I can't even remember their name.
