If they buy someone from abroad it's because they're better than the 20 year old though isn't it? So he doesn't deserve his debut. It will never stop the likes of Rooney and Wilshere coming through because they are good enough to be handed debuts.

England didn't qualify for the Euros in 1972' the World Cup in 1974, the Euros in 1976 the World Cup in 1978.
Who was that the fault of? The BBC and too many English players?

It is also worth remembering that every great club side, right through from the Tottenham double winning side to Liverpool and various Man Utd teams, and including Leeds when the had a good team in the 60s and 70s has had a nucleus of Scottish players with a sprinkling of Irish and Welsh.
The strength of a domestic league and success in the European Cup competitions doesn't mean the basis is there for a good national side.

"Scottish, Welsh and Irish..." They'd be from the British Isles (ie home grown) then, as opposed to those cucumber pickers and other cheap labourers from that island across the English Channel who are ruining the chances for our homegrown talent!
