Lady garden update with bonus content 4 of girls are doing well 1 is not looking too great but I think it's cos I over did the feed the 1st week and it's stunted it a bit, I hope anyway. And i went bonsai hunting last week on the river and done some Mr miyagee **** with my pruners and wire today, these ones are staying outside. Dont ask me what they are
I'd say they're branches off a tree you stuck in some mud Those potted bonsai's are coming on a treat though
Not quite I ripped them 2 up roots and all, trimmed the roots and hacked off the trunks leaving the 1st branch, cos that's the way of the bonsai I dunno wtf they are like
Nah, you're ok mate, looks nothing like it. Would it be bad, yes it would, very bad, invasive plant that you will not be able to destroy... https://www.gov.uk/guidance/prevent...if-you-have-knotweed-on-your-land-or-property
So on last year's garden thread I'd mentioned about a fungal infection to about 10m of my garden hedge. I had to dig the ****er out by the roots. Special thanks to @Gessa who introduced me to this baby... please log in to view this image which did the trick. I then had to dig out 10m of soil, a metre wide and about 60cm deep and get rid of it, leaving this... I then doused the soil with a banned fungicide solution which I sourced through dodgy means to kill any remaining spores. And now 8 months later...
4 tonnes of compost... Today the wheelbarrow came out. This was only half a tonne going in... Then 3 tonnes... Then 4 tonnes... I also sourced a special fungus resistant buxus box hedge which has been developed in Norway over a decade through various strains by Dr Hoogenflagenshlangerdangler (the 3rd). There's 70 of the fckers in there... And planted... And... please log in to view this image
Got a few tubs of root builder now, then some boxus fertiliser, if you haven't already. Glad the mattock helped...Great tool
Thanks G, appreciate the offer but that's all 4 tonnes of compost mate so going to see how it goes first. All I need now is some straw mulch to scatter on top and I'm sorted. That mattock was a game changer tbh
Just give em plenty of water now, most composts dry out very quickly, 2 hours of the hose sprinkler every other day for 2 weeks if you don't have rain.
Now that's interesting. I watered them as soon as I planted them as the place I bought them from told me, plenty of water. But didn't know it would be that much I'll be on it. I'm not a big gardener but this baby's been a labour of love and I'm hoping I've actually solved the hedge problem. I'll feel great if it's worked. Not gonna fck it up bcos I didn't water it lol
Nice use of a line for leveling I see. Your subsoil looks as dry as too, so will need it, nothing heavy, one of those that spin a light rain mode will do it. Not the fastest growers, about 8" per year in ideal conditions, sacrilege I know but chop top inch, inch half off them this time next year, then they will fill out nicely.
Yeh I impressed myself with the line lol. Must've seen it somewhere...old episode of Gardener's World So don't trim this summer? Actually thinking about it, they're too small for a trim this year? Have you heard of the Better Buxus range? They're boxbite resistant, supposed to be very good.
No don't touch them this year, unless any bits are or get damaged, then snip just below the damaged area with secateurs. Yes know of them but don't know anyone who's used them, quite expensive if I remember correctly, you've got to be very unlucky or totally inept if buxus don't thrive in most conditions mate.
Thanks mate, that's going to make me feel great if it all goes tits up Certain places are a rip off. £27 a pot ffs. I found it online for under a tenner which wasn't bad... although the woman on the phone said to me "can't imagine why someone would charge £27, I don't know why we're charging £9.95" which made me laugh. Fair play you're into your gardening Gessa, very impressive mate
Not a bad price mate as they look a decent size and are healthy. Only been into it for last 8/9 years when we moved into this monstrosity, helps having a Percy Thrower type as a brother.
Next project, finished the wall about 4 years ago, started this part in Nov, would have been sooner, except for circumstances, moved 2 sheds from the concrete base, finished getting the old concrete and tarmac up, using 4 old oak beams as a raised bed, path in front then lawn the centre part.
