It's offensive, I suppose, because it's encouraging the audience to laugh at primitive black people mistaking a white European as a woman. I suppose it's considered homophobic because there is clearly a glint in the tribal chief's eye as Reina is dragged forward to be (one would assume) senselessly tooled in the chief's mud-hut. I can see why the ad might be considered offensive, although (like some) it doesn't particular offend me. Then again, I am neither black nor gay, so I suppose that it's easy for me to make light of it. Then again, I don't think the ad is funny. I confess that I started this thread so that I could use the word "Klan" in conjunction with a story about 'Pool.
wrong wrong wrong, Fail alert, lies lies mince pies Row is between Ad direction and group working on political equality for black people. Absolutely nothing to do with Reina apart from an acting job of which I'd say those actors were happy about getting the work. If there were no black people in the ad another group would be complaining of descrimination. HIAG, you normally clutch at desperate straws but if this is your comeback after the 5 2 thrashing its weak dude even by your poor standards. Would you care to explain why this ad is racist? Explain it to me please, gotta hear this.
You obviously dont get the Ad then, Reina is saying oh sh!t I'm the queen prertty much, it is like an old CArry on gag, sure if that is racist then what teh fk is the fast show? Everything in the ad is pointed towards laughing at Reina in a predicament, you complete numpty The last bit funnily enough is taken out of context withthe rest iof the ad, we're meant to laugh at Reina until the last bit then were supposed to for some unknown reason laugh at guys in tribal gear and not riena and his yet again getting into bother. You are really fkd mate And exactly which tribe was this and from where are they from as we have to know who is offended if someone is offended, this certainly cannot be made as a case of racism against all black people as well, tribes were not all black were they, there were many white tribes also, so, if the tribe was white would that also be racist? Oh share your completely unbiased untwisted logic
Not only am I glad to explain why I think some might think it's racist (and homophobic), but I actually did so before you posted your sly dig at me. As you seemed unable to read my post (at #23), I repeat it below:- I also said that I didn't find the post offensive, personally, but nor did I find it funny. In fact, it's a dreadful ad, and Pepe should stick to being a goalie at an under-achieving former big club.
How the **** does an advert that somebody's in have nothing to do with them? That's one of the most bizarre pieces of logic that I've ever seen.
Well my African born girlfriend thinks it is ridiculous that this has been brought in to spotlight in this way, this is coming from a girl who when first moved to this country at the age of 6 was asked if she used to "live in mud huts". These so called campaigners should concentrate on REAL racism rather than trying to seek their high horse for non events to try make themselves look like heroes or that they are doing something. I recommend those who find this offensive...don't watch Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.
Let's be honest about this. If it hadn't been for the Klan-like antics of Suarez and Queen Kenny in encouraging his squad to wear those silly tee-shirts in support of the insupportable, then this ad would have passed unnoticed into the quagmire of dull, dire adverts. The problem for 'Pool is, that the club now has a worldwide reputation as being fascist and racist, and the world's media is going to seize upon every incident of racism or perceived racism, no matter how slender. This is why us neutrals said, at the time, that Kenny's actions in supporting Suarez were extremely ill-advised. Perhaps, now, LFC's obtuse fan base will understand why we all said that!
