I have had two Jack Russells, the short haired, long snout type. They are fantastic dogs, a little aggressive but they are loyal, never dull, great guard dogs for the house, they dont take a massive amount of feeding or walking and they small enough to handle for kids.........I still currently have the 2nd Jack Russell, named Lulu (not me) she is 11 and she still tears around like she was 2 or 3!!

Takes me back 7 years, when we moved from West London up north. Part of the bribe with the kids, was we'll get a dog moving to countryside. We went for a Springer Spaniel. Big enough not to impact on my hetrosexualness when walking it, but smaller than a lab so ok for kids to take for a walk. Really recommend them.

As for names, kids favourite player always is a good start. However, I wasnt too keen on calling it ****tu or Dou Dou. So with a bit of gentle manouvering, got kids to think of LOFTUS as a reminder of the season tickets we had in the Loft. Going for a bitch, howabout Ellie if you prefer the Ellerslie Road stand, Paddy for the Paddock.

Cannock, if you go to a PDSA, RSPCA or Dogs Trust home, they will inform you which dogs are suitable with cats as they test them by socialising. If you go to any of those homes, you should see displayed on their kennel cards whether they are suitable. The main problem that most people encounter, is that the Cats have problems with the dog, not the other way around. You can also try your local vets as they often have a couple of animals on their books who need re-homing
