To be fair, I think Newcastle ALWAYS have an option to buy in a loan clause if possible, and a lot of selling/lending clubs insist on it. The fact there wasn't one indicates Chelsea either want to keep him, or are after many more millions than we would offer.
I don't know if I'd buy him as I said on the other thread. Wages, fee, others fees all in, I reckon he costs us 35m. Can we really afford to spend that much on him with the pressing needs we have up top and at No.10? I think the lad is a great player but unless we can get some bargain deal done I'd look for another season long loan with a right to buy. Either that or some sort of staged payments of Mike would allow it.
We can afford him but it will take most of our budget before sales. Is the left winger more important than the striker and No.10? I don't think we have enough for all three plus full backs etc unless Mike has suddenly found an extra 30m. I think the max we will have is £80m after sales. If nearly half of that goes on Kenedys fee, wages, agent etc, then we can't develop much of the team. Personally I don't mind if we just go quality and sign maybe 3 players out of the £80m. However I think there is an argument for doing more and loaning him.
Where do you get £35M from? Figure for this year should be cost of signing him plus one year's wages. That shouldn't be anywhere near £35M.
There's not really any chance we will get Kenedy, unless Chelsea a) want to keep him, so aren't keen to sell permanently and lose another De Bruyne/Salah, and b) are happy to let us have him for another year. If he's up for sale, we won't get him. If Chelsea want to use him, we won't get him.

I reckon his fee will be 25-27m. I think he will want 100k a week which is 5.2m and I reckon signing fees him and the agent will split 5m. If we can get a deal done at 20m, get his wages in at say 75k and maybe get them to split 4m then we might bring it in under 30m. He’s hot property now, clubs will be sniffing and Chelsea may keep him.
I really like him and hope we sign him but not convinced by talk of 20-25 million fees. Prior to joining us he had done very little and had cost £7M. He’s scored two goals for us (in one game) and about 2 assists and was as bad as anyone v West Brom and Watford and did little in a couple of other games whilst often seemed burnt out after an hour. Not putting him down as I like him and he has great potential but fans talking up the price is unhelpful to our hopes of signing him
Agree with this. Kenedy has been good overall but not great and does tend to tire quickly in comparison to others. Yes I would buy him but not at any ott price.
I don't doubt you are right. 25m is ridiculous really. He has achieved very little. He looked good for us and obviously a cut above what we have. Matt Ritchie cost 12m, Murphy cost 12m, so I'd have to think he is going to be 20m plus. Chelsea will want to capitilise and Roman seems a touch more frugal these days. I could see Rafa wanting Kenedy and Abraham. Perhaps there could be a deal done where we buy both in a joblot for 35m
