He’s also injured till god knows when , with an injury for all we know could possibly be career ending, oh and he’s still not ours, out of interest when he becomes fit would you buy him and how much for ? , bearing in mind his injury. That doesn’t deal with the striker problem we have now does it. Also any money we spend Jan on a striker won’t then be available to spend on Afobe next year will it. Or do we forget Adobe and try to find someone Jan who is fit and use the money on him instead , only trouble is we are then back to my original post. My point is most of us agree with you we need a top championship strike , but we realise it’s not as easy as you make out. I believe Lee is aware of our need too, but delivering one so far has been beyond him for the reasons I pointed out. Afobe May have been that player I agree, however he got injured , with a similar injury to ones he’s had before which has pretty much ruled him out for the entire season. The dilemma Lee faces now is what to do now. I’m sure behind the scenes they are looking for an answer for Jan. but as has been pointed out many times in the past Jan is not a good time to buy players for reasons we are all aware.
Afobe is class if his injury is passed with flying colours then he is the real deal and yes i would sign him and i would imagine we could get him for 5 million as he wants away from Stoke. The only issue being the new manager may want him.
You say if the injury is passed with flying colours, he’s had similar injuries in the past , this latest one along with previous ones would leave a question mark over his long term fitness surely? You seem certain they would take a £7m loss just because he wants to leave, would you be so cavalier if one of our players wanted to leave, I don’t think it’s quite as easy as that , plus like you say the new manager may see him as part of his plans. it could also depend on what’s in his contract with us , did we have an option, if so at what cost.
