Talking as somebody who has a very warped sense of humour --- YES definitely too soon R.I.P. to the miners
I don't have to go & wont get any expenses for the interview, but I kinda know the manager I'd be reporting to & got on with them so assuming they know I can do the job easy. Its not a permanent job - just short term for the end of the financial year so I'm thinking HR wont be involved. Its a fair old travel everyday so don't want the job past Xmas anyway - but the money is crazy & I'd be stupid to turn durn the chance of earning a little packet before Christmas.
Must admit i have never been out of work since i left school 31 years ago, wouldnt know what to do with myself if i didnt work.
If you don't try you definitely wont get the job. If the past catches up with you - bluff it out- say you're sorry and learnt from your mistakes ( try to sound sincere ). Good Luck.
Its the first time i've ever been unemployed. The free time seriously screws your head. One of the main things I miss about working is the social interaction. Theres only so many times you can go into town and window shop. I'll do anything. I'm registered with about 4 agencies and non of them are giving me any work. Hopefully I can get Xmas temp job or something.
The likes of Asda and Tesco will be looking for people in the run up to Christmas so I would keep an eye out for that too.
Like I said agencies are ****e, if you are willing to take anything there is almost always call centre work going no matter where you work, find a local employer and send them a CV direct or check their website if there are any vacancies. Its demoralising work (I work in a call centre but thankfully not on a phone) but it will pay the bills.
I had a steady job for years & packed it in to have an extended holiday in Australia to see my old man & to get a better paid job when I got back.......then the economy crashed & I came back to a Country with no ****ing work I'm regularly out of work but I get by ok. Always save my wage each week/month so I have a savings to fall back on when my contract ends.
Do you not qualify for work out in Oz through your old man? I'd have stayed personally, better weather and I hear better prospects.
I've even started to apply for Apprenticeships now. I got a letter off Crown Paints today to say they're considering my application and will be in touch about a interview
Take it from a numpty who's been there.Don't give up.Take anything that comes along, should it be stocking shelves or emptying bins.Your self esteem means more than any wage. The fact that you want to get up in the morning and earn a wage says a lot. Hang in there, your world can change in a millisecond, mine did.Keep the faith
If you continue to not be able to get a job my advice is to take a course to improve your skills and make you more employable because it will open up all sorts of doors for you. I am currently studying to become CCNA certified and when I finish I will be a qualified Cisco Network Engineer/Technician.
Couldn't live out there I don't think, don't think the mrs would be too keen either as all the rest of my family & her family are here. The old man & his mrs worked for Severn Trent Water Systems, making & maintaining the systems used by Severn Trent. The systems they developed got sold to other companies & eventually they sold the systems bit of the company off to an Australian company......the old man took retirement & his mrs relocated to Melbourne! He's done loads of work in consultancy for the utilties market over their as they have just opened the market up - shame really as I've loads of experience in utilities so could have got a job quite easily as they are about 20 years behind us in many ways!
Ever heard of capital letters ? If you're going to correct a grammatical mistake ( bit sad) at least get it right yourself .
Does that make you feel big you ****er? You may have better grammar but your still a ****. ****ing asshole.
I arent sure of your situation, but College is starting now. As someone who was a labourer for 20 years, I can recommend getting some qualifications. Its hard work studying but knuckle down and it pays off. Good luck.
