Does my head in! Every now and again just pipes up with random car adverts on full volume and does my head in.

Anyone know how to kill it!?

    arghhh!

Some say put it on pause, but as soon as you move a page it starts up again. I just turn the sound off on the computer...simples.

Yeah - it keeps kicking in over my music. Just chilling out with a coffee the last thing you want is something about Wenger or Fergie chirping up.

Oh. My brilliant method doesn't work if you are trying to listen to something.

Guaranteed way not to avoid it... don't visit the Echo website. There's f-all worth reading on there anyway.

You'd be surprised how much you DON'T MISS by disabling Java, or uninstalling it. Then, when you go to websites, you see areas which remain blank, as your computer doesn't download useless trivia, which just prevents you from getting at the stuff you actually want, that bit quicker.

I think I decided that the last time I would read an article from the Echo was after that one about the family being banned from Romsey Rapids. I really think a 15 year old wrote it.

I stopped reading the Echo when they started writing stories that didn't have a single ounce of truth in them and stories that were irrelevant to anything else. In recent years they also seem to be against Saints more often than not, instead of supporting them as they had done for many years previous - Back in the days of Graham Hiley etc.

Most Internet Service Providers have a Pop Up Blocker that can nullify those annoying adverts, just a matter of locating it!

They are not Pop-Ups. They're embedded in the webpage, so can't be stopped unless Java itself is stopped. I generally look for a Pause button and press it. But I have disabled Java before to get some peace.
