Loan deals always favour the parent Club. We got a keeper for half a season who is decent for the 3rd tier, and at only 10% of his Championship wages (so I hear). I think Steer did OK, so best of luck to him for the future. Now he's gone and it's time to cut another deal with another Club. Personally I wouldn't mind Dillon Phillips being our first XI keeper for the rest of this season, but that decision rests with Bowyer or the parent Club of our next loanee keeper (depending on the terms of the loan). We'll know one way or another by the end of January.
Dillon Phillips looked perfectly assured between the sticks yesterday, and got a warm reception from the Covered End. Bowyer said that he plans to sign another keeper on loan this week. That’s fine - but let’s be clear - unless that keeper is David de Gea, he should be the loan understudy to Dillon and NOT our No.1 That shabby loan of Steer and the way it abruptly ended, left a bad taste.
Rich Cawley reporting that Bowyer is interested in signing Palace midfielder Jonny Williams on loan. He is a physically small, lightweight & injury prone albeit skilful creative gadfly - just what the current squad lacks.
Palace pals told me Williams was highly rated 5 years ago, but “lacks the physicality” to make it in football. Sounds horribly familiar ?? Plus - we don’t need cover in his position. We need a left back, a reserve keeper and a striker IMO.
If we get another loan keeper, it is likely to be the condition that he plays - assuming his parent Club is paying most of his wages. Something I was not happy about a while ago, but doesn't bother me anymore. Bowyer is the gaffer. If he is willing to accept such terms then it's good enough for me.
Why are you happy with such a farce now Lardi ? Our players should be picked on merit, not based on who is paying their wages.
