fair enough. i think Parker and Dembele as the "2" is the only likely partnership we'll see, whether that's a 4231 or as part of a 442. We've had problems in the past turning defence into attack, with Livermore lining up alongside sandro or parker. it'll be a total last resort, IMO. Even if Dembele has a problem with his hip again (and we don't get a creative midfielder) I think we're more likely to see carroll or huddlestone play instead of livermore.(should the latter not be sold or go out on loan). Jake has seen next to no football for ages now and I personally think he's not in AVB's plans at all. IMO, he'll still end up going out on loan.
An upside of loaning Huddlestone is that Carroll will see more action. I get the feeling AVB's played Hudd in spots so he doesn't ruin their morale, even though most of us think Carroll has much more potential and has done much better this year when he's had a chance.
Given our current position regarding strikers, perhaps we should have gone back for Remy. I can't see Levy putting his hand in his pocket for the triple-A striker we need to push onto the next level - either now or in the Summer.
reports that willian hasn't turned up for training after the winter break....probably a good explanation for it, but let's hope not!
No point. There are only about 15 strikers in the world who are definiitely better than the two we've got. Remy is probably worse than Defoe. We have to put up with the fact that we can't afford the verybest and not waste resources on the others.
I dont think Remy is all that...seems like its a case of lets get any striker in for some of us...Remy wont be pulling up no trees. The fact that we would have been fighting for his signature, with 2 relegation candidates should confirm that. On the one hand we are all wanting someone to push us on..on the other hand we cant seem to see past Remy.
Twelve months ago Newcastle found Cisse, and Swansea found Michu. So, there is still value out there. It's a matter of finding it.
have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet have we signed anyone yet ? lol.
think we should maybe spend our money on revamping the scouting personnel? apart from you of course, Spurcat
If Sandro's injury and recovery time is sufficiently long term to warrant it, what would people think of us hijacking QPR's M'Vila deal From what I've heard (not seen) he's a decent player, just a bit of tempremental, and with Parker probably only having another season max with us it may be a good move at the price?
it's being reported that Anzi?,are willing to sell Willan to us or Chelsea, but want 20 million for him
£20 million? Well that puts the kibosh on that Levy is NEVER going to spend more than the price we paid for the failure that was Bentley for a player, EVER, he got his fingers burnt and did not like it (even if it Ronaldo or Messi!!!)
The Sandro/parker position is certainly one where u need 2 fit players, especially with 4 competitions in a season. It's part of the "spine" of the team, so yes, I would agree with you DB. - The move would certainly be worth considering. (As JL isn't good enough, IMO) However, It depends what plans the club have for Parker in the short term. if he's going to be moved on at the end of the season as we look to bring younger players through, then it's probably best to just wait until the summer. Remy and M'vila are bound to have release clauses in their contracts if they don't stay up. but then again, if he really is only costing 8mill, then it might be wort it. It's a tough one. Scott Parker is still top quality and very experienced. I'd hate to see him pushed out again if we got M'vila. I don't want us having a Lampard situation. Parker gives his all and there's a lot to be said for that.
Yep. Alan Carr's dad was at WHL for two stints. He was given an 8 year contract by the Geordies, like their manager.
