What's exactly bullshit about the exciting football ?? It was real and was there. it wasn't dreamed up by people. As for AVB doing at least as well as Harry, that is just laughable.
Well he's 9 pts worse, so thats not better however I try to look at it. Exciting football is bullshit is it? ok, you're welcome to your opinion, but I'll leave that one there.
Over the course of Harry's tenure there were some exciting games, there were also some very frustrating games and even some poor one's. This seems to have changed into Spurs were exciting when Harry was in charge and it is now boring with AVB in charge. That is bullshit IMO. But why continue with this OS we will never agree on this particular subject.
I am welcome to my opinion notso but that's MY opinion not one you make up for me. I never said exciting football is bullshit did I? Throwing the 9 points diff around is not the point is it, because we have not played the same teams in the same order as last season have we. I understand THFC6061 has tried to compare like with like, but that is for his thread surely.
I am merely doing what you do Spurf, which is be quick to offer the other view in defence of someone I like. You're right though, we will not agree on this subject, so I'll leave you in peace for now .
It wasn't wrote as you read it, "the subject" of exciting football, is not what I meant, it is the way we have always endeavoured to play, but I'm sure you knew that so am a little surprised at accusing me of making up an opinion for you. I understand that on that subject you know you're on a loser, but there's no need for that. Also, like for like is again rubbish, as games still have different dates, and the circumstances of each game are different, eg. a side we played could have had injuries they don't have this season, its not guide of anything really. So, if you're not going to use points, or like for like games, or the quality of football, its hard to see what you base your opinion on at all, for that reason, I'm out.
Your first paragraph I just don't get! Your second paragraph should really be addressed to THFC6061 as it's not my argument, it's his. My opinion is purely subjective and based on what I have seen, isn't that much the same with yours?
The first para is trying to explain the first line of post 424, I meant the Spurs tradition of exciting football, not what you accused me of saying.
That's a little unfair to compare points totals like that though without recognising that you're comparing AVB's first 20 games with Harry's best first half of a season in the 3 seasons he started as manager for us. There's no denying that 'Arry got us playing great football and that we very well under his management but what followed in the second half of last season would've put us in midtable had we not started so well. Any expectation that AVB's first 20 games should be as good or better than our best team in the Premier League playing their best football is misplaced in my opinion. I'm not totally happy with AVB but I do back him, I think he's doing he's doing well for so early in his reign. We don't actually disagree too much on how we're doing this season, the football's not been very exciting, a lot of performances haven't been convincing but we're in the top 4 and that's the most important thing for me this season. Where we differ is that I think AVB should be given 3 transfer windows to get things totally right, until then my very minimum target for us is to compete for top 4, I'll be disappointed if we don't get 4th, reach a semi-final and start playing a more attractive game but I won't be calling for his head.
I agree with what you say, I also do not think harry would do much better losing Mod and VdV. I just think he's done no better than any other manager we may have got in. We're 4th, where we have been thereabouts for a few seasons now. We don't here much from players about how good he is either, if there is i've genuinely missed it. Not sure what it is but something just doesn't feel right.
Off the top of my head, Bale, Walker and Defoe have all come out and said how much they enjoy playing for him and working with him. I'll see if I can find the stories there's probably still an argument that players would say these things in the press regardless, how often do players come out and publicly criticise their manager when they're not trying to get a move elsewhere?
You're right, I'll stop putting words in your mouth and stick to actual quotes. This is the Walker one FYI http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ome/search.html?s=&authornamef=Andrew+Warshaw I'm sure the others are around on the internet somewhere, I just found that one easily because I remembered I used it in a thread on here
Here's one from Bale, at the end of September http://www.football411.com/story/0,22162,20098_8119850,00.html

Well not posted on the SPurs board before and was keen to read who people thought should be in the Jan window. Then saw an argument. Back to the real topic though. We do need a creative midfielder as a priority, we simply haven't got that player that can change a game with one pass. It would be good to get a top-class forward, although the likelihood of one of those being available in Jan is unlikely. I am gutted we signed Adebayor, never rated him and his wages and the type of player he is probably prevents a move for Ba. Who isn't the best forward in the world but for £7m, he could do a job. Agree we need a left-back. It has been horrible without BAE. I would even argue we need a new top class centre back. I know people will say Kaboul is back soon. But I can see Dawson joining Arry at QPR and I aint convinced Gallas has it in him. Caulker looks like he could be great but not there yet
Welcome If we were to bring in another left back I'd rather Rose was recalled but I think we're alright at left back, Jan and Naughton aren't ideal out there but I think we're okay there for now, I'd rather better back up on the wings. You're right though another creative player is needed as a priority, as I said though if we were to get another player in January I'd like it to be a quality winger.
