We didn't lose any money and we didn't really need him as it turned out. Not the case of signing a bad player, just a player who didn't like the country from day one. The Scocco signing turned out to be nowt but a damp squib but it wasn't a bad signing, had a high rep where he came from but was only here 6 months. Not like Danny Graham and Cabral, those are bad signings.

Not a bad signing as we didn't lose out on anything, he didn't cost us points. More of an indifferant meh signing

SUNDERLAND have been linked with a move for Hull City defender Curtis Davies in the January transfer window.

The Tigers captain is currently out of the first-team picture at the KC Stadium but has vowed to fight his way back into Steve Bruce’s plans.

But reports today have linked the Black Cats with a move for £6m rated Davies in the transfer window.

It is understood the club would consider a bid in that region while the 29-year-old defender could be tempted if guaranteed first-team football was on the cards.

Davies has previously played for West Brom, Aston Villa and Birmingham City.

We take a look at four players who could be headed for the Stadium of Light exit in the January transfer window.

Gus Poyet is expected to make a number of additions at Sunderland in the January transfer window.

The Uruguayan boss has targeted at least four new players, according to reports, with an injection of quality wanted to help the side move up the Premier League table.

However, in order to buy, he may be required to offload some members of his first-team squad to clear room and raise funds.

In this piece we take a look at four Sunderland players who could be shown the exit door at the Stadium of Light in the new year.

    Charis Mavrias

Mavrias's only appearances this season have been with the Greek national side, with Gus Poyet continuing to exclude him from the first-team set-up at Sunderland.

Mavrias was signed from Panathinaikos for £3 million last summer, but he has failed to make any sort of impact at the Black Cats.

A once highly rated teenager, Poyet will be hoping that his past reputation will be enough to attract potential suitors' interests in January because he has hardly been in the shop window recently.

    Jozy Altidore

The Sunderland striker's persistent inability to hit the back of the net means that he is likely to be relinquished in 2015.

Altidore has been given time to adapt to English football by Poyet, but he still has just one Premier League goal to his name.

With Poyet expected to sign a striker in the upcoming transfer window, he could be the man allowed to go to make space for the new addition.

    Cabral

The powerful midfielder has become the forgotten man at Sunderland after playing just once since arriving last season.

Cabral was expected to add bite to the midfield in the North East, but he has barely been seen at the club.

Sunderland tried to sell Cabral in the summer, but a lack of interest meant that he has stayed and they will be hoping that a similar problem does not occur in January.

    Danny Graham

Currently on a loan spell to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Danny Graham's Sunderland career has been coming to an end for some time now.

Graham has stuggled to find any sort of form on Wearside and it would be best for both parties to find him a new home.

The 29-year-old has already scored once on his temporary spell at Molineux, which lasts until December 31st, and Sunderland will be hoping that he continues this goalscoring form to attract more teams.

Who should Sunderland sell in January? No news there than <bubbly>

According to the Daily Express, Sunderland are one of five Premier League clubs that will be trying to attract Spanish defender Raul Albentosa in January.

The Black Cats must go up against Burnley, Leicester, QPR and West Brom who are all said to be interested in the 26 year old who is highly rated by SD Eibar.

Albentosa is is out of contract next summer, there is not much chance of him signing a new contract and Eibar don't fancy losing the centre-back on a free transfer so they are willing to cash in to the club who offers the best deal during the transfer window.

There are said to be other Spanish sides interested in doing a deal but the player is keen on coming to the

A sound rumour from the Cat & Fiddle is that Sunderland scouts have been looking at Exeter City young goalkeeper Christy Pym.christy_pym

The 19-year-old has been featuring for England Under 20s, along with Liverpool target Matt Grimes. Pym has now featured 28 times for the Grecians. He made his professional debut between the sticks last season away to Southend United.

Sunderland had thought to be interested in Matt Grimes during the summer, as we reported at http://www.exeweb.com/2014/05/15/sunderland-linked-to-matt-grimes-move/

Any transfers will be helpful to the Club in over-coming a tight budget, and would also boost Paul Tisdale’s player budget. The transfer window opens on 3rd January 2015.

James Hamon has replaced Christy Pym in the last few games, in order to give James some playing time.

SUNDERLAND are ready to offload Adam Johnson next month — to fund a move for Fabio Borini.
Liverpool want £10million for Italian striker Borini, 23, in order to give under-fire boss Brendan Rodgers some cash to splash in the January transfer window.

Sunderland are one of several clubs credited with an interest in Queens Park Rangers forward David 'Junior' Hoilett, reports Goal.

It is claimed that QPR will reluctantly let the former Blackburn man go in January in order to finance their own winter business as they look to avoid relegation.
