He's already better than Longstaff I bet..... I'd be surprised if he doesn't make the bench fairly soon given Injuries. Howe might just manage him out the club like Hall though because he didn't pick him.. time will tell.
Incredible difference to last year. There's a lot at play and I imagine a lot of politics as well, i.e. 19 clubs are well aware of how precarious Chelsea's position is so are going to laugh at their valuations. If Chelsea can't shift some of this they're going to get a points deduction next season, which works for all 19 other clubs and is arguably as valuable as buying a Conor Gallacher. Unlike the Summer, looking around there's absolutely nobody to be jealous of except Brighton's move for that young Argie. But then we've signed this Harrison for a fraction of the price. It is what it is and now effectively we don't need a midfielder because Tonali's back by the end of the next window, so can focus all attention on priorities like Forward, LB, RCB and GK. What we usually do is sign two players fewer than we actually need, so be interesting to see if this time they can actually bring in the 4 required for a top 4 challenge. Need some kind of forward, specifically right wing. Gordon can do a great job as second fiddle to Isak, or starting left/right as needed. Pope's injury is a bad one for a GK, we'll need a first choice in nets. Schar is too up and down and needs phasing out. LB is a key area we need to improve and clearly Hall isn't going to cut it.
I've not looked, but I bet the Sky Sports deadline day special is really **** today. How much tripe can those muppets Dharmesh and Kaveh spurt out on repeat for hours and hours, with no actual transfer news to help break it up?
Kessie would be an awesome loan with an option to buy signing as his style is better suited to the Prem than La Liga.
was he any good Isaac Hayden to QPR, deal done and sealed — loan completed today. please log in to view this image
There was a time when he played well for us in the Premiership that most fans seem to forget. He is a very limited player but if he's given a central holding role where his job is to harry the opposition and then pass the ball to others he was decent (he also chipped in with a few goals at times but they are very much a bonus) and he always gave hiss all. Imagine Nicky Butt but with a tenth the ability and you're in the right ballpark. In fairness he played for us a lot in the season we got promoted from the Championship and at that time I'd have said he was good enough for any team looking to gain promotion. We've not seen him play for two years though.
Personally love the guy, very good Championship/bottom half EPL CDM - solid, dependable and loves to get stuck in to a tackle! Edit: shame the link doesn't work for some reason but if you google "Isaac Hayden tackles" there's a good video of him making tackles left right and center!
That's the thing, that is his level. Good lad and he served us well when we needed him, but we are not there any more. We need to upgrade.
