The article starts out all guns blazing and confident, but finishes with hopefully it will happen. Aww..!

 

I'm impressed that nothing has got out on this. No striker rumours in the press at all. I thought in the days of loud mouth agents hawking players to the highest bidder and social media something would have slipped by now.

That said Bertrand came out of nowhere. gardos only appeared on the radar a few days before signing. Same with mane and Toby .

Makes you wonder where all the press stuff comes from and if there is anything at all in the rumours there are for us currently (vilhena, rafa Silva, indi etc) since we seemingly don't publicise interest.

Arsenal fans have been talking about this 'agreement' with us for a while now. Its as if they have been given some info by one of those journos that gets inside information that we all dismiss until it actually happens...which worries me. Maybe that is why he calmed down so quickly??

Nothing solid has come out at all. Remember arsenal have been linked with half a dozen players in Morgan's position. The links with him only ramped up after we battered them.

And the financially prudent Wenger will potentially be very reluctant to pay more than Chelsea did for matic....

 

With the loss of the majority of our all important defensive unit to injury and international duties, I feel we will need to bring in additional support immediately if we are to maintain our position.

True, although there does seem to be a lot o quality players eihter out of contract in the summer or stalling on contracts at the moment.

Plus the dutch league top 2 is looking pretty much sewn up already...

 

We don't know if he has been promised or not promised anything yet. Some deals are done a season or more before they happen (like the Shaw deal basically was).

Is Kongolo more CB than LB?

And we know you have a name to put at the end of that list instead of "striker" - you could have done that - nobody would have noticed

 

I actually did put the name at first ha. Yeah Kongolo is mainly a cb but can play lb if needed. What with us playing 3 cb's now and again and Fonte getting on he would be a great buy.

 

Shame there isn't an Internet equivalent of that electrostatic detection method they use for revealing what was written on the page above. Hopefully we'll find out soon, we're halfway through January and not much seems to be happening!

 

The thing about the current injury is that it makes it more difficult to sell damaged goods, same goes for JRod,

Didn't Cove slate Kongolo?

 

Was looking to see what Cove had said of Kongolo, and found a post of Joe's, where he said in all seriousness that, of Pelle and Rickie Van Wolfswinkel, RVW is the better of the two strikers.

 

I actually think Pelle is doing very well, possibly playing above himself. I think he lacks a lot of quality in technique and decision making but makes up for it a bit by trying so hard and being awkward to handle.... next season teams may have worked out how to handle him.
